    Pros:
    I bought one of these since I plan to make a thermoelectric phone charger. According to the info given in the description it should be able to produce about 1.7 watts under ideal conditions.  So I set up a quick experiment:  1. Connect an 8 ohm resistor to the module 2. Place a block of ice on the cold side 3. Heat the hot side with a lighter so that the tip of the flame almost touches the module. 4. monitor the voltage over the resistor With just the ice, the voltage leveled out at about 0.5 Volt (= 0.031 watt) and after about 20 seconds with heating the voltage had reached 1.6 volt (= 0.32 watt) and was still rising, but I chose to stop since something started to smell burnt. After cleaning away a bit of sot it did seem to still work fine. Conclution: 3-4 of these modules connected in series sandwiched between heatsinks would probably work fine as a phone-charger.

    Cons:
    There are TEG-modules the same size with a lot better specs out there, but they are far more expensive as well.
