SONOFF BASIC WiFi Wireless Smart Switch for DIY Home Safety

Had 10 of these delivered today, very impressed overall. A few cables have the earth in them too so i have had to run that outside the box but i don't consider that a big issue. The slight pain as someone else mentioned is having to disable your 5G WiFi network, i have the BT Wholehome system and you can't disable the 5G. Had to turn that off completely and enable the 2.4G on my Virgin router and duplicate the Wholehome network name & password on that. Connected them all to that network and then disable the Virgin router wireless and restart the Wholehome one as it connected perfectly. These are working well with my google home speaker too. Bargain for the price! The Tape on the images is purely holding the external earth wire tidy.

The sonoff basic is a really nice device. The WiFi connectivity is good. Two walls between sonoff and access point and it is still at 70% signal strength.
You can upgrade the sonoff with little effort and use three additional GPIOs. Just get yourself the free firmware TASMOTA and solder a pin header and wires, respectively, to the sonoff basic. Have a look at the picture, I drilled a small hole to get out the wires safly, i.e. away from mains power.
Example use-case for 3 additional pins:
1. humidity/temperature sensor, e.g. AM2301
2. PIR sensor to trigger relay, e.g. light bulb, or an additional pin, e.g. small LED.
3. LED as a dim light at night

Note that the relay is clearly audible when it's triggered on or off.
To sum up, I recommend this device for all who want to switch mains voltage via smartphone or home automation service.

This is an amazing product - when on sale even better. If you haven't considered Flashing it with tasmota - do it. It may seem complicated, but it isn't. Get a USB to FTDI (TTL) converter for about $3-$5 bux, make sure it supports 3.3v (standard is just 5v).

Connect 4 easy wires. VCC (3.3v), GND (Ground), RX (receive) and TX (transmit).
note: FTDI TX = RX on Sonoff. (RX on FTDI - TX on Sonoff). Send and receive cross to allow one device to send to another device who is receiving.. It makes sense, you talk, someone listens.

Sonoff makes a great product --- don't forget to have GROUND wire connected, (120v mains) even though it doesn't connect directly to this module. Don't SKIP IT. 2 wire lamps don't need it. If your plug is 3-prong - YOU NEED IT. Google if unsure.

Хорошая покупка. Рекомендую к покупке.
Может кому то будет полезно сердцем данного устройства является esp8266 ,которая легко шьётся добавляя доп функции ну тут на сколько фантазии хватит атмосферные датчики(температура,влажность,давление,со2 и.т.д) магнитные,освещения, короче все что душе угодно.

Estos sencillos y asequibles interruptores funcionan por WiFi. Gracias a su reducido tamaño, caben en cualquier caja de empalme y en muchos plafones y apliques, por lo que su instalación es muy fácil y práctica, incluso si la instalación eléctrica de tu casa no está preparada para ser domótica.

Se controlan desde una aplicación en el móvil que se integra perfectamente con Alexa y Google Home. Además, como todos los otros productos con control por WiFi de Sonoff, disponen de firmware alternativo (Tasmota, ESPURNA) que permite ampliar sus funcionalidades e integrarlos con sistemas de domótica de código abierto (HomeAssistant, OpenHAB, Domoticz...)

Устройства соноф с одной стороны по соотношению цена качество однозначен лучше всех. С другой возможности этих устройств на родной прошивке с родным софтом крайне скудные.
Заказав в гараж это реле и радио бридж с пультом я был разочарован, так как хотел включать свет по радио тёмными зимними ночами, но так это не работает. Надо было брать реле с радио. Но опять же бридж мне нужен в качестве сигнализации.

Реле так то слабое и на 4pda все подробно описано. Оно не держит 10A максимум 3-4. Выгорают силовые дорожки от клемников, но это опять же поправимо.

Il prodotto è di facile installazione e si può usare in svariate modalità. Può sembrare un po macchinoso il settaggio, ma ci sono diverse guide in rete e alla fine ci si riesce senza particolari problemi, grazie anche all'app dedicata. In confezione c'è scritto che è perfettamente compatibile sia con Google Home che con Amazon Alexa, ma questa è una funzionalità che devo ancora provare. In conclusione mi sento di consigliarlo, anche perché il carico massimo che riesce a gestire è pari a 2.200 watt, quindi per un uso casalingo il suo utilizzo è limitato solo dalla fantasia dell'utente.

The product is awesome for controlling two lead lamps since the SonOff Basic only has input and output of Live and Neutral. If you are using a metal lamp or anything else that only has these two leads then you need to ensure they are double insulated, to check if your electronic item has this, look for a Square within a square symbol, this means its double insulated.

If you do want to hookup a 3 core product 'L, N and E' then you can do so by wiring up the EARTH cable outside.

Suggestion

This has no input or output of the EARTH (E), ideally only use with electronic goods that are double insulated or expect to have to strip a 3 core cable and have the earth lead connected outside of the Sonoff. If you would want to use the product with 3 core it's better to go for the Sonoff Pow R2 which will give you better energy management anyway.

The product is great its just a shame the experience is absolutely ruined by the awful setup of eWeLink software. If you have a AC network (combined 2.4ghz and 5ghz WIFI) then you need to disable the 5Ghz network during install, since the software complains it does not support 5G (very annoying). Once disabled its easy.

The other annoying thing is that the software constantly logs you out and doesn't remember your password, meaning you have to type it in again! this makes the whole thing annoying and would be just quicker to get off the sofa and flick a switch.
