For the price, the AC86U has been a huge upgrade from the usual sub-$200 routers available in Australia (if you can find this locally the RRP is around $400 when I purchased) and hugely worthwhile. WiFi has been rock solid and has only required a VERY rare reboot on occasion. Works perfectly with NBN, speed fantastic and great VPN options also. Antennas are pretty large and unit is pretty outlandish in appearance, so would recommend either embracing or hiding it depending on your taste and decor. User interface for the admin panel is fairly easy to use and the companion app quite useful (though not FULL featured).

If you are looking after the best dual channel router, this is the best one. By powered very fast dual core arm cpu, this beast can do everything you throw in it. Its only is in competition with much more expensive ASUS sister, Gt5300.

Very good and stable router. It has replaced our 6 year old RT-AC66U. Even though you will not really notice any real life diffrences, this router has a lot of features and security features that are good to have. Also MU-MIMO and USB 3.0 is good to have.
Great looking design, but have in mind that this one is made for upright placement. Its very tall, and no wall mount.

Suggestion

China/US power adapter. Would have been nice if it was an EU-adapter.

Dobry router w dobrej cenie
Szybki procesor, doskonały zasięg.
Łatwy w konfiguracji, posiada polskie menu choć po wyjęciu z pudełka i resecie uruchamia się w języku chińskim.
Po podpięciu dysku mamy małe centrum multimedialne (torrent + DLNA)
Po wgraniu alternatywnego oprogramowania Asuswrt-Merlin zyskujemy kilka dodatkowych opcji jak np. połączenie przez TOR czy dodatkowe opcje diagnostyczne i konfiguracyjne.

Fantastic coverage, speeds and stability. Great Asus-WRT firmware. Robust security and monitoring functionality. Nice external looks. Overall - a great product, which I highly recommend you get from GearBest at a very reasonable price.

Minor teething-bugs in the firmware. I've experienced bigger ones with previous routers.
The power brick is US format, but GearBest provides a free converter.
