F-wheel DYU Bike vs. Xiaomi M365 Scooter, which one is better?
Now is the time of rideables. With cities getting busier and our free time getting shorter and shorter, figuring out ways to beat traffic has become our race against time. In this post, we take a look at the two flagship new rideables: the F-wheel DYU Electric Bike and the Original Xiaomi M365 Folding Electric Scooter.
F-wheel DYU Bike vs. Xiaomi M365 Scooter: design & build
The F-wheel DYU Electric Bike is a device aimed at taking out all the hard stuff out of bike riding. You just sit down, grab the handlebar and off you go. The Xiaomi M365 is a scooter — and that means you will need to do a tiny bit more work as you will need to be standing up. But that's about it.
Both rideables are made of aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, both are IP54 waterproof and feature folding designs, which make them easily carriable and storable at home or in the office. One thing to note is that because both rideables are made to be compact, you may find the F-wheel DYU quite small for a bike — which may feel strange at first, but does not hinder the electric bike's performance in any way.
Verdict: except for the obvious bike/scooter design difference, the two rideables seem to offer a similar level of build quality and convenience of use. Even the color options are the same: you can get both the bike and scooter in either practical black or stylish white.
F-wheel DYU Bike vs. Xiaomi M365 Scooter: performance
Similarities continue for a while as we explore the rideables' performance. Both, the F-wheel DYU and the Xiaomi M365 come with 250W motors, cruise control and battery management systems.
However, the Xiaomi M365 takes things a step further with the offer of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System letting the bike convert kinetic energy into electric power — thus making your ride last longer. This could also be a contributing factor to the Xiaomi M365's longer cruising distance: 30km — compared to 20km for the F-wheel DYU.
As for cruising speed, the Xiaomi M365 is capable of 25 km/h in standard mode and 18 km/h in energy saving mode, while the F-wheel DYU delivers the maximum speed of 30 km/h (note that this feature must first be enabled through the bike's companion app) and 20 km/h in cruising mode.
Both rideables come with dedicated apps that enable further functionality and give drivers access to additional data — the apps are free to download for both Android and iOS devices by scanning the QR codes in the manuals.
Verdict: once again, we are in a tie here. Both, the bike and the scooter offer similar results when it comes to cruising speed and distance — with the M365 performing slightly better on distance, but the F-wheel DYU reaching a higher max cruising speed.
F-wheel DYU Bike vs. Xiaomi M365 Scooter: price
Having shown so many similarities in design, build and performance, it would be strange if the bikes were priced significantly differently – and this is not the case.
So, which one is better?
With that, we think your choice basically comes down to personal habit and convenience. If you prefer to move about town sitting down, then the F-wheel DYU Bike would be a better fit — though, as we've mentioned earlier, its super compact size may take some getting used to. The Xiaomi M365 Scooter is more straightforward when it comes to your first riding experience — but, as with all scooters, will require a bit more of your balancing skill than a bike.
