Thanks to the multitasking of your Android smartphone, you can display two applications at the same time and this can be very convenient. Some will use this to watch a video on YouTube while chatting with their friends on an email application. Others may prefer to surf the web and use their GPS navigation application simultaneously.
Together, we'll see how to take full advantage of this multitasking option to have a split screen displaying two applications on your Samsung, Huawei, Google, OnePlus and Xiaomi smartphones at once. The method changes according to the brands and we will therefore detail the process on a case-by-case basis for these different manufacturers. This will give you a good overall idea of how to proceed.
How to display two applications on Samsung phone?
On your Samsung smartphone - Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S10, Galaxy A50, whatever - simply open the multi-window view by pressing the dedicated button in the navigation bar. You will then see the different apps open on your phone in a carousel. On each of these windows, you will be able to see the logo of the corresponding application.
Press it to scroll through a menu with different features. Click on "Open in split view".
The selected application will appear in the upper half of your Samsung smartphone's screen. In the lower part, you will then have to choose the other app to open. You can find it in the multi-window view if it has already been opened or go back to the home screen and search for it in your application drawer.
You are now with the screen divided in two. The middle bar allows you to define where the limit should be drawn.
How to display two applications on Huawei and Honor phone?
On a Huawei or Honor smartphone, whether it is a Mate 20 Pro, P30 or Honor 20, you will also need to use the multi-window view. Except that here, the icon you have to press to display two applications at the same time on the screen takes the form of two small superposed rectangles.
The procedure to be followed afterwards is the same. In the lower part of the split screen, you will have to choose the second application to display.
Note that on Huawei, you can take advantage of a shortcut: by drawing a horizontal line on your screen, you can enable screen sharing.
How to display two applications on Google phone?
On the interface of Google Pixel 3 or Pixel 3a, it is a very sober design that is in the spotlight with a mix between the logic of Samsung and that of Huawei. Once you have opened the multi-window view, you must press the application logo and then press the middle option, the one with the horizontal rectangles, to enjoy multitasking.
All you have to do is choose the second application to display on the screen to enjoy multitasking.
How to display two applications on OnePlus phone
On your beautiful OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro, the handling barely varies. Go to the carousel with all the applications open on your smartphone and tap on the three-point menu on the right. You will find there the functionality to display two applications at the same time. The option is simply called "Split screen".
How to display two applications on Xiaomi phone?
Xiaomi's MIUI interface is very different from all the ones we have just seen. Already, the multi-window is displayed in a rather unique way. The "Split screen" option is then located in the upper left corner. Once you have pressed it, you will then have to drag the first application into a top rectangle before selecting the second to enjoy multitasking.
You now have two applications displayed simultaneously on the screen.
