Do I have to upgrade to iOS 13.2 to enable AirPods Pro noise cancellation?

If you want to enable all the features of AirPods Pro, Apple requires that its paired iOS devices must be upgraded to the latest iOS 13.2. If you don't upgrade, can you use the active noise reduction function of AirPods Pro properly?

AirPods Pro

Last post, Gearbest Blog share you the ANC enable method about AirPods Pro. Here is a detailed test result about different iOS system.

iOS 13.2 devices

On the iOS 13.2 equipment, there are three modes of switch in the control center: Noise Cancellation, Transparency and Off. When set-Bluetooth is turned on, there are name, automatic ear detection, microphone, noise control, press and hold AirPods, earplug fit test options.

iOS 13-13.1.3 devices

On devices in the iOS 13-13.1.3 system, the control center can only choose to turn on / off "noise control", not to switch "transparency mode". There are also no earplug fit Test and hold AirPods gesture settings in the Bluetooth settings. However, gently squeezing the AirPod Pro stem can still achieve switching active noise reduction / transparency mode, and switching songs.

iOS 11/12 devices

On iOS 12 and iOS 11 devices, the control center has no "noise control" switch and can only adjust the volume. If you want to turn noise cancellation mode on or off, you must go to "Settings-Bluetooth." Toggle under the "Listen Mode" option.

Summary

To sum up, after connecting to the AirPods Pro, non-iOS13.2 system devices just can not switch "noise cancellation / shutdown / transparency" directly through the control center, but need to be turned on in "Settings-Bluetooth", and the noise reduction function is still available.
