How do noise canceling headphones reduce noise?

One: the principle of active noise reduction (ANC)
I believe that friends who heard the active noise reduction for the first time will be very curious about the principle of this active noise reduction. When we hear this word most often in life, I would like to mention the active noise canceling headphones. I will talk to you in detail here, which will let you know more about the principle of active noise reduction (ANC).
Active noise reduction produces a reverse sound wave equal to the outside noise through the noise reduction system. It is perfectly neutralizing the noise, thereby achieving the effect of noise reduction. Since there is active noise reduction, there will naturally be passive noise reduction. In fact, noise canceling headphones can be divided into active noise canceling headphones and passive noise canceling headphones. Compared with active noise canceling headphones, headphones that emphasize sound insulation are called passive anti-noise headphones or noise-canceling headphones. But the mechanism and active type are very different. Its main purpose is to prevent noise from entering the ear canal. It is also determined by the material and tightness of the earplugs.
The anti-noise mechanism can help us enjoy the wonderful music without increasing the volume. Of course, we can also use the noise reduction function instead of playing music. This function has helped me a lot -- it does not only make me get into work quickly on the plane, but even a short break will not be disturbed by the surrounding environment. So we don't turn on too loud music for too much ambient noise, and avoid hurting our ears over time.
Two: Analysis of active noise reduction (ANC)
1.Principle analysis
Anti-noise headphones usually use ANC to eliminate low-frequency noise, and it is not good to eliminate high-frequency noise in an active way (that is, part of the human voice). Because the frequency we can hear is 20HZ-20KHZ, and the frequency range of our sound is 100HZ-8KHZ. Most of our environment and vehicle noise are in the range of 100HZ-1KHZ, so do the active noise reduction on the market. Even some good noise canceling headphones are up to a few hundred HZ. The full frequency band of the voice cannot be covered. So the noise reduction effect of the voice is not able to achieve the noise reduction effect of the environmental sound. Therefore, high-frequency noise still depends on the traditional sound insulation mechanism (that is, passive anti-cracking).
2. Hearing analysis
In fact, our hearing is as fragile as our vision. Therefore, we should also protect our hearing while protecting our vision. Excessive noise stimuli are likely to cause injury or even death in the hearing hair cells in our ears. And the loss of hearing is irreversible. If you don't want your ears to be scared, please start by controlling the player volume. Active noise canceling headphones are indeed an artifact to protect your hearing. However, if the active noise reduction is not done well, it may damage the hearing of each of us.
Three: talking about headphone noise canceling headphones
Through the microphone in the earphone, it can actively detect the ambient low frequency noise (about 100-1Hz) which can be heard by the human ear. And then transmit the noise signal to the control circuit, let the control circuit perform real-time calculation. Transmitting the converse noise phase, sound waves of the same amplitude can offset the noise through the speaker.
Active noise canceling headphones have a noise reduction circuit that competes with external noise. In order to achieve noise reduction through hardware mechanism, the internal components are pickup (environmental noise), processing chip (analytical noise), and speaker (responding to sound waves) so that these components can complete the entire noise reduction process.
In addition to sound quality, a good noise-canceling headset can do two things: it provides a comfortable experience that is suitable for long-term use, and can accurately eliminate unnecessary external noise. And there are a lot of noise canceling headphones available on the market for us to choose from (most of them are very expensive), so I hope that the articles I shared can help you understand the true meaning of noise canceling headphones. And eventually let the noise canceling headphones help us better. Life, if you think my sharing is meaningful, please give me a compliment.
