How to calibrate your hoverboard?

An electric self-balancing scooter is a great way to get from place to place in a quick and efficient manner due to the sensors and gyroscopes located on each of the foot pads.

But while this makes it possible for you to glide with ease, like anything else, it may need a little maintenance. Your self-balancing scooter can shake, vibrate, shudder, or not move as smoothly as you want to. But don't worry, this doesn't mean you have to throw it away. Follow the steps below to calibrate your mini segway.

5 steps to calibrate your hoverboard

Step 1: Make sure the balance scooter is powered off.

Long press and hold down the power button for at least 5 - 10 seconds. The power button is usually the only button on the device, usually underneath the scooter. Press the power button firmly, but do not force it.

Step 2: Ensure the scooter is placed on a flat and smooth surface.

Make sure that the self-balancing scooter is at the level of the ground and that the foot pads are parallel to the ground and aligned with each other. You have to be on a flat and smooth area, with no slopes or inclinations.

Step 3: Press and hold power button until the lights start blinking and the indicators on both sides start to flash.

This can involve the lights on the front, those surrounding the hoverboard, the headlights, or all of them. The blinking lights indicate that the hoverboard is resetting itself.

Step 4: Turn off the scooter.

Turn it off by pressing the power button until all the lights are off. In most cases, the lights will flash for 8 times when trying to power off the scooter. If the lights do not turn off immediately, try again after a few seconds.

Step 5: Turn on the scooter.

Turn the hoverboard back on by pressing the power button once, and take it for a test ride. You had better to do this right after the calibration and make sure that your hoverboard is fully charged. Test all the necessary movements to see whether the scooter is properly calibrated. This includes going forward, going backward, spinning to the left and to the right.
