How to disassemble a cpu fan?

By  Moll Dupuis 2020-01-18 2240 218

The central processing unit (also known as "CPU"), one of the core hardware of DIY, is made of highly pure silicon, and each CPU chip contains millions or tens of millions of transistors. For example, the 2007 65-nm Intel Core 2 quad-core processor contains 580 million transistors. The computer is powered by power, which is passed to the processor pins through the motherboard, and the pins are redistributed to the transistor. The operational data makes a large number of transistors work at high frequency (the knowledge related to the main frequency is omitted), and the transistor consumes most of the electric energy and produces a lot of heat. If a large amount of heat is not released in time, the processor is very likely to take automatic protection measures to cut off power.

CPU heat dissipation principle:

Processors generate a lot of heat when they work, so engineers design processors with heat dissipation in mind to put a cooling fan in each boxed processor (very few AMD black box processors do not have a fan). There are two kinds of CPU air-cooled fans: down-pressure fan and side-blowing fan, both of which are close to the surface of the processor and use the heat transfer performance of metal to quickly transfer the heat out of the processor to reduce and stabilize the temperature of the processor.

To sum up, the CPU cooling fan is indispensable to the whole machine, and the processor leaving the fan will lead to irreversible damage, such as shortening the life of the processor, damaging the internal components of the processor and so on. The correct installation of the radiator can ensure the safe operation of the whole machine. Below, several representative CPU radiator fans are selected to explain the installation method of the fan one by one.

Intel (LGA 1155, 1156, 775 interface) original fan installation:

Intel original fan adopts a down-press fan design, and the original fan itself comes with silicone grease, so it can be installed directly (there is no need to apply silicone grease again). After installing the Intel Core i32100 processor, install the fan.

Step 1: arrange the fan

Finishing fan must pay attention to the fan power cord and fastener button position, the line should be sorted out in advance, do not let the fan in the operation of all kinds of contact with the line, the initial position of the power cord is generally in the fan (can be removed).

Note: the black raised dot on the fastener button should be close to the fan. If the knob is not close to the fan, please restore it.

Step 2: adjust the position of the radiator

Adjust the radiator to the appropriate position, place the fan horizontally above the processor cover, and align the bottom of the buckle post (pointed antennae) around the fastener with the four buckle points on the motherboard. The keyholes on the motherboard of the

Intel processor are distributed near the CPU slot, which can be easily seen by the user looking at the motherboard. Before installing the original Intel radiator, be sure to see if the rotary switch is fully restored to its original position (in situ: the position where the dot is next to the radiator).

Step 3: press the fastener

As the radiator fastener uses four fasteners design, the best way to install the fastener is "diagonal" press installation. Sequential pressing is easy to cause uneven force on the fan, which makes it difficult for the other two fasteners to press.

Note that you need to add force when pressing the fastener button, and when you hear a clear click, it proves that the press is successful.

After installing the radiator, we need to connect the power cord of the radiator fan (the 4Pin connector of the fan) to the radiator port of the motherboard.

Step 4: remove the fan

To remove the radiator, you first need to remove the power cord, separate the fan power cord from the motherboard, and then deal with the removal of the radiator fastener.

Users should learn to install the radiator and disassemble it at the same time. There are two points to pay attention to in the method of removing the original radiator of Intel. 1. Rotate the raised dot at the top of the fastener column counterclockwise to the outside of the radiator in the direction indicated by the button. two。. To lift the rotating fastener column upward with your thumb and index finger, take out the four fasteners in sequence.

Intel (LGA 1155, 1156, 775 interface) original fan installation attention:

1, first of all, the preparation work before the installation of the radiator;

2, reset the knob on the radiator fastener;

3, press the knob diagonally to buckle the radiator;

4, when unloading the processor, be sure to unplug the fan power connector, and then rotate the knob counterclockwise to remove the fan. Installation of

Installation of AMD (AM3, AM2+ interface) original fan:

AMD cooling fan is relatively simple, it adopts two-point snap design, and the installation and removal of radiator is much simpler than Intel.

Step 1: arrange the radiator power cord so that the power cord is as close as possible to the power outlet.

Step 2: observe the AMD fastener and restore the pressure bar to the original position (as shown above) where the pressure bar is horizontal to the motherboard.

Step 3: buckle the buckles on both sides of the radiator on the fastener of the motherboard, pull up and press the pressure bar until it is completely pressed (at this time it is horizontal with the motherboard again).

Step 4: plug in the power supply interface of the cooling fan.

Note: in this step, the power Jack should be vertically (perpendicular to the angle of the motherboard) into the motherboard power supply interface.

AMD (AM3, AM2+ interface) original fan installation notes:

1, first of all, the preparation work before the installation of the radiator;

2, reset the pull rod on the radiator fastener;

3, press the rod, buckle the radiator, and plug the fan power interface vertically;

4, unload the processor must first unplug the fan power interface, and then pull up the pull rod to remove the fan.
