Detailed steps to turn on the notification breathing light on your Xiaomi phone

Before using the notification breathing light feature, please make sure the operating system of your Xiaomi phones has been updated to the latest MIUI 11. So far, the MIUI 11 global version rollout has reached most of Xiaomi and Redmi phones. If you want to know when your Xiaomi phone can get the MIUI 11 global update, just check the update timeline in this guide: These Xiaomi and Redmi phones will get MIUI 11 and Android 10 update by the end of 2019.

If you don’t know how to check the MIUI 11 updates, please refer to this guide: How to check the MIUI 11 update on Redmi K20 (Xiaomi Mi 9T), Redmi 7A, POCO F1, Redmi Note 7 and other Xiaomi phones.

If your Xiaomi or Redmi phones have been running the MIUI 11 operating system, please follow the steps below:

Step 1. Go to "Settings".

Step 2. Click "Ambient display & Lock screen".

Step 3. Click "Show animation" on the tab of "When notifications come and the screen is off".

Step 4. Then select the breathing light style you want.

Step 5. Once the setting is finished, go back to the home screen. Then the breathing light will light up once when your phone receives notification.

Note: Considering the battery consumption, the notification breathing light only displays once and it’s not a continuous blinking.

That’s it. Just have a try and enjoy this new notification breathing light feature of MIUI 11.
