Most Xiaomi phone users may encounter fast battery drain issues. However, we have many ways to save and extend the phone’s battery life. In this guide, we are going to show you some exclusive but still easy ways that people rarely know. I promise these tips will make you save a lot of battery and terminal the day without your power percentage reaches 0.

extend battery life on Xiaomi phones

1.The following tips can be used on all Xiaomi or Redmi phones, or Pocophone, such as Xiaomi Mi 9, Xiaomi Mi 9T, Xiaomi Mi 8, Redmi Note 8 (Pro), Redmi Note 7 (Pro), Redmi Note 4X, Redmi 8A, Redmi 5 Plus, Pocophone F1, Xiaomi Mi Max 3, etc.

2.The specific settings may differ from the phone to phone but not much big difference.

Turn on battery saving mode on the phone

The first tip we bring you is to use battery management in an adaptive way, this will allow the system to intelligently manage the various applications, so that they are not continually running.

To do this, simply access the application Settings - Battery & Performance - Turn on “Battery Saver”. Remember that this feature came along with Android 9 Pie and therefore, if your version of MIUI is still based on Android 8.1 Oreo or lower, unfortunately it will not be available.

In addition, within the same Battery and Performance menu (Settings - Battery and Performance) if we access the Scenes section, enabling the "Inactive Mode" and "Non-interactive Mode" options, we will be able to reduce the power consumption of our Xiaomi device when it is idle. In this way, MIUI will detect intelligently if we are not using our smartphone and thus not perform several functions that are virtually unnecessary if we are not using the terminal.

Developer options, your great ally

Within the developer options we will find various functions that will allow us to save a lot of battery. First of all you will have to have access to these options, to do so simply access the application Settings - On the phone / my device and touch 7 times on the option "MIUI Version". In this simple way we will already have access to the various options that this mode integrates.

Then to enter the developer options we will have to go to the application Settings - Additional settings - Developer options.

Once inside, we should look for the option "Force GPU rendering", enabling this option will facilitate that the CPU of our terminal does not have to perform all the tasks of rendering the screen, but that this is helped by the GPU itself and therefore, reducing the load of the processor and consequently reducing its consumption. In addition, if we enable the option "Disable HW overlay" we will get the entire rendering work is done by the GPU, thereby achieving much greater energy savings and consequently the CPU is free for other tasks.

Set the preferred network type

Our latest battery saving tips are related to the signal management of our Xiaomi terminal. To access we will have to enter the application Settings - On the phone and then click 4 times on Total storage. In this way we can access a hidden menu where we are informed of various details of our smartphone.

To prevent our Xiaomi mobile device from continuously searching for network signal and therefore draining its battery, we need to look for the option called "Set preferred network type" and in the list just below select "LTE/TD-SCDMA/UMTS".

Other battery saving tips and recommendations

As a tip we recommend you to have installed only those applications that you are really going to use. In general, to give an example, many games, even if we are not running them, are "listening" to send notifications, promotions, etc..

If your Xiaomi mobile device has an AMOLED screen, we recommend that you use backgrounds that contain a large part in black. In this way, thanks to the fact that the black color in this type of panels is done by turning off the pixels in question, we will get an extra battery saving.

Finally, if you don't use Google voice commands, you should disable "Ok Google". And it is that, if we have it activated, our smartphone will be permanently listening until the moment you need it, thus affecting energy consumption.
