How to scientifically choose the laptop which suits you?

Notebooks can be roughly divided into three categories: set notebooks, all-around notebooks, and gaming notebooks.

The weight of the set notebook is mostly less than 1.8kg. It uses the integrated graphics card that comes with the CPU. It does not have a separate graphics card. There are also a lot of products under 1.3kg that are light and portable. It is very suitable for our daily, business trip, office use, and it can play ordinary large-scale games.

The weight of the all-round notebook is less than 1.8kg, and it will be equipped with low-voltage CPU+MX series video card. It can't play large-scale games. It can play some ordinary games smoothly, but it will not help us in our daily work. Contrary, it will bring more high temperatures and poorer battery life.

The weight of the game notebook is more than 2kg. It is equipped with a standard CPU+GTX/RTX series of strong graphics cards. It is suitable for playing large-scale games which test the performance of notebooks. It is also suitable for professional work such as graphics rendering.

The graphics card

The graphics cards we usually refer to are divided into integrated graphics cards and discrete graphics cards. The CPU comes with an integrated graphics card. The motherboard is independently installed with a separate graphics card. Discrete graphics have a significant impact on gaming and graphics, but they bring more heat and power. So not everyone needs a discrete graphics card. Therefore, I personally recommend the integrated graphics notebooks that if you do not play or play simple games while you are working in the office, watching videos, and code words.

The memory

First of all, we must clarify a concept: two 8G dual-channel memory is better than a single 16G single-channel memory. Double-channel memory bandwidth is doubled, and the set display is improved. AMD Ryzen APU platform uses dual-channel memory to take advantage. So many Ryzen notebooks are dual-pass memory. And we have learned that many thin and light notebooks use onboard memory to reduce space and power consumption. And it does not have the ability to expand memory. Memory performance is mainly determined by capacity, frequency, and timing. The higher frequency and the lower timing, which will make the memory stronger.

For laptop users like me who do everyday work, play, and watch movies, using 8G of RAM is enough. Of course, the higher memory capacity, the better. The professional programmer users are not dependent on the CPU, they need the higher memory dependence. The local server, database, virtual machine will possess more memory, so it is recommended that programmers recommend choosing a laptop which is more than 12G memory.

The solid state drive

I also recommend that you buy a laptop with a solid state drive (SSD). Most solid state drives have two interfaces: the M.2 interface and the Sata3 interface. The Sata3 interface is actually a mechanical hard disk interface, which can also be connected to a solid state drive.

What really affects SSDs is the granule, master, and cache schemes, especially the granules, which are divided into positive, white, and black. I personally recommend that you choose the positives. Most of the solid-state hard drives that come with the notebook will be purchased from Samsung, Toshiba, Western Digital, Intel, Hynix and other original OEM with self-produced pellets. The stability is generally good. For the man who is the first time to buy a notebook, trying to choose a large-capacity solid state drive of 512G or more is a better choice.

The screen

Nowadays, the update of notebooks is particularly fast. Today, the screen quality of laptops is very good. At least choosing a laptop with a 1920*1080 resolution IPS screen, which will be more inexpensive. The worst screen material is the low-end TN panel: the viewing angle is poor, the picture quality is poor, the color is easy to be distorted, the whitening, the experience is not very good. The mainstream material today is IPS. In fact, the screen is also divided into various grades and ranks. And judging whether the screen is a good screen, there are actually many factors. One factor is that our ordinary people can judge by the naked eye: color gamut.

The gamut refers to the range of colors covered by the screen. For a picture, the screen with a high color gamut looks more vivid and realistic.

The screen resolution is the number of pixels on the screen. The higher resolution, the more pixels there will be, and the more content can be displayed. The mainstream notebooks use 1920*1080 resolution now, and some high-end models use higher 2K, 3K, 4K resolution. If you want to choose a 3K-level screen, you can try Huawei MateBook X Pro. The display is very realistic, and the color is rich and beautiful. I chose this notebook after consulting a lot of information. Not talking about the screen, other aspects are also discussible, and can be pointed out. The performance is superior, and it can be said to be an all-round player worth buying.

As for the screen size, the regular notebooks use a 16:9 ratio. And now there are 3:2 ratio notebooks to join, such as Huawei Matebook series. The notebook with this size is very suitable for Microsoft Office document office. This is also the reason why my office worker chooses Huawei MateBook series.

The external interface

The number of external interfaces of different types for notebooks varies widely. When buying, you should be sure to pay attention to whether the interface type and quantity meet your needs. Currently, the most common interfaces are: USB, Type-C, HDMI, RJ-45 network cable, and lightning 3. Different notebooks will be equipped with different numbers of interfaces. Now there are a lot of notebooks which are determined to save some space. And it will omit some interfaces that are not used everyday, such as HDMI, RJ-45 network cable and VGA.

Some notebooks directly remove the USB interface, leaving only the Type-C interface, such as the Huawei MateBook13 I bought before. If you want to buy this, you may need to purchase a Type-C docking station to meet the daily work requirements.

The above are the five factors which I think are the most important when choosing a notebook. If you are buying a notebook for the first time, please pay attention to these five aspects and choose a notebook that suits you. If my sharing is helpful to you, please give me a compliment.
