How to set up WhatsApp Web using your smartphone?
Step 1: update to the latest Whatsapp version (2.16.17)
While many new features require an app update, there's not a specific update available to enable WhatsApp Web. However, make sure you're already running the latest version of the app, which is currently 2.16.17 – at the time of writing.
Step 2: access the Settings menu
Open WhatsApp and access the Settings menu. There should be a new menu underneath "Tell a Friend" named "WhatsApp Web/Desktop" – tap on this new feature.
Step 3: go to the whatsapp website
On your PC or Mac, head to web.whatsapp.com. You can technically use any browser to access the client (we're using Safari), but WhatsApp actually recommends using either Google Chrome, Opera or Firefox.
Step 4: authenticate on your phone
On your iPhone, within the WhatsApp Web menu, tap "Scan QR code". Follow the instructions on your iPhone and align your QR code scanner with the QR code displayed on the WhatsApp Web website. Once aligned, you should see a pop-up on screen confirming the setup was a success – you're connected!
Step 5: you're all done!
You can now send and receive WhatsApp messages as well as access all received media (including voice notes!) on your PC or Mac. This is a huge timesaver!
As for other phones like Android phones, Windows phone, Blackberry (blackberry 10) and Nokia S60, you can also find the instructions on web.whatsapp.com. Enjoy your chatting!
