Having trouble in Xiaomi Mi band 2 battery charging? Solutions here are prepared for you!

The battery and power charging are two vital elements for virtually every single smart watch in the world. The first determines how long a product can operate (capacity/output), while the second is crucial for long term, sustained use of the battery (input). They are both essential.

The bestselling Xiaomi Mi band 2 is no different – it is also subject to power-related issues during normal usage. We have compiled a handy list of typical power-related problems affecting the Mi Band 2 into a convenient FAQ along with the associated solutions.

Okay, folks, let's get started and see how to solve these Mi band 2 battery and battery charging issues.

Charging Problems

Keep calm and try the following solutions:

● Try to charge it longer. If the battery has been fully drained, it needs additional time to recharge.

● Remove and re-insert the Mi band 2 body into the USB charging cradle or shake the body several times, before charging again.

● Check whether all the metal contact points between the band and the charging cradle have a good, secure connection. The contact points may have oxidation; if it's visible, carefully remove the residue from the surface using a knife, then try to charge again.

● Make sure the USB charging cable, charging adapter, and power source (PC or AC power socket) are firmly connected. Also ensure the power source is functioning correctly.

● Try using a different USB cable, charging adapter, or power source.

● If this is the initial battery charge, you should ideally charge using a high-power AC socket for at least 3 hours.

● Ensure the power source is functioning correctly.

● Try using a different USB cable, charging adapter, or power source.

● Enter the Mi Fit App -- Profile -- Mi band 2, to check whether it is charging or not. The photo on the left means it's not charging (it's discharging), while the right one indicates it's charging.

If your Mi Band 2 remains unresponsive, it is likely that there is a battery fault. In this situation, either take it to a repair shop or contact the aftersales service for additional tech support or to arrange an RMA.

This error code means the band's hardware has developed a fault. Please contact the aftersales service support and, depending on whether or not the warranty is still in service, send it back for either an exchange or professional repair.

● If you encounter this specific issue when using the original Mi band 2 USB cable charging cradle, the most likely explanation is the power source output is lower than the required Mi band 2 power input.

● Change to a different power source; we recommend charging your Mi band 2 using a standard AC power socket and review the result.

● Still not working? Contact the aftersales service and explain the technical issue to them.

This is almost certainly a battery issue. Stop charging immediately and contact the product support center / aftersales service. They will help you to resolve this issue.

Battery Lifetime

This simple fact is: the operating time and the standby time are two distinct concepts.

Standby time: the band is in a powered on state but without any program/functions operating and Bluetooth is not in use.

Operating time: the band is in use, and the duration depends entirely on how the user uses the band (how many features they have opened, how long for, etc.)

● If many features are activated (e.g. pedometer, heart rate detection, etc.) and used continuously over a long period, then naturally the operating time will be shorter than the standby time.

This is an entirely normal phenomenon.

● Battery cells have a finite lifespan so following extended use, this will diminish due to wear and tear. The battery capacity and usability will also decrease over time.

● Once your Mi band 2 battery has expired, but you still do not want to lose your band, please contact aftersales service for assistance: you can determine whether they can change the battery, if there is an applicable fee, and other relevant information.

It's difficult to state how long the Mi band 2 should last after a full charge, because every user has different needs and usage habits. Furthermore, it also depends on how many (and which) apps you open, how heavily you use the different features, etc. In particular, Bluetooth-related functions will tend to drain the battery faster.

● We recommend closing applications that you rarely use and only use the main apps/features that you need. Smart power management will minimize power drain, extending the battery time during the day.

● If the problem still persists, try to reactivate the battery:

● Use the band until approximately 10% battery power remains then stop using it.

● Charge the band using a high-power source (AC power socket) for about 3 hours.

● If the battery still continues to drain at a fast rate, the battery may have developed a fault. Please contact the aftersales service for technical assistance.

Other Issue

There are two possible reasons for this scenario: the Mi band 2 battery will eventually run out or the hardware itself is damaged.

● Charge the band for a while and then power it on to check whether normal operation has returned.

● If this does not work, then there is an underlying hardware issue. Please contact the aftersales service and request help from them. The best way is to send it back (RMA) for repair by a professional technician.
