What is Mi Share in MIUI 11?
The Mi Share is a part of Xiaomi Mi Work office suites and it is a new system function that MIUI 11 offers. Just like the AirDrop in iPhone, the Mi Share offers us convenient and fast file transfer experience between multiple devices, so we can easily share our files, pictures or apps to other devices wirelessly with no need to install any third-party apps or use USB cables.
Compared to the Bluetooth or any other third-party apps, the Mi Share offers higher file transfer speed. And its max transfer speed can reach 82MB/s according to official introduction. In addition, the Mi Share has no limitation to the number of files, file size, or file type, so it’s very convenient to use.
Which phones or devices support Mi Share in MIUI 11?
Presently, the Mi Share only supports Xiaomi phones with the MIUI 11 operating system based on Android 9.0 Pie or later versions. To check if your Xiaomi phones support Mi Share, you should first make sure your Xiaomi phones have been updated to the latest MIUI 11 operating system. How to use Mi Share to transfer files?
Before using the Mi Share feature, you need to enable it in your phone’s settings. To do this, just follow the steps below:
Step 1. Please make sure the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth function is enabled on both your Xiaomi phone and other recipient's device.
Step 2. Go to your phone’s "Settings".
Step 3. Click "Connection & sharing".
Step 4. Click "Mi Share".
Step 5. Switch the Mi Share toggle to on and grant storage and location permission to it. Meanwhile, if you don’t want to turn on this feature every time you use it, you can also enable "Turn on Mi Share automatically". Then the Mi Share function will automatically turn on when your phone’s Bluetooth or WiFi are turned on.
Step 6. Once the Mi Share feature is turned on, you can select a file in Mi file manager or a photo in the gallery or apps you want to share, and then tap on "Send".
Step 7. Then Mi Share will search and show the available devices nearby. Choose the device name you want to send files to.
Step 8. After a while, the recipient's device will receive a prompt message of the request acceptance. Just tap on "Accept" to receive the files.
Are there any alternative apps for cross-device file transfer?
Yes. If your Xiaomi devices presently don’t support the Mi Share feature, you can also use other third-party apps. The popular cross-device file transfer apps include:
