Having problems with your Xiaomi Yeelight smart light strip? If you are experiencing issues like connection time out or your smart light strip can't connect to Wi-Fi, follow the steps below for possible solutions.

The connection always times out.

When you connect the Xiaomi Yeelight smart light strip to the phone, it actually needs four parties to work together - the phone, the light strip, the WIFI router, and the cloud server. So it's a complicated procedure, therefore, the connection timed out issue may happen. The reasons are multiple, but the main reasons should be: When you connect the Xiaomi Yeelight smart light strip to the phone, there are four components that need to be working properly: the phone, the light strip, the WIFI router, and the cloud server. With several elements involved, these may be the reasons for the time out:

● The internet/network is poor.

● The phone is not compatible with the light strip.

● The WIFI router is not compatible with the light strip.

● Communication between the light strip, the phone, and the cloud server is poor.

● The WIFI router password is incorrect.

The solutions are:

1. Check your Wi-Fi connection. Make sure your router and modem are working and that you have entered the correct Wi-Fi password.

2. If the problem persists, check if your phone's OS and the WIFI router's signal frequency are compatible with the light strip. The Yeelight smart light strip only supports iOS 7.0 and above and Android 4.0 and above, and it only works on 2.4G WIFI signal (5G is not supported).

3. 3.After you've verified that internet connection is working, try downloading a song or video onto your phone to make sure the internet speed is okay. If you find that the download speed is too low, try disconnecting other devices from Wi-Fi to ease traffic.

4. If all of the above has failed, try resetting the light strip:

● Cut off the power source.

● Press the power button of the light strip and connect the light strip to the power source again. When the strip lights flash in color, release the power button.

● When the light goes off, the reset is complete.

● Open the Mi Home app, the app will notify you the Yeelight smart strip is detected - follow the instructions to connect the light strip through the app.

 

The light strip cannot connect to WIFI.

1. Check your WIFI connection - if the internet speed is poor, try disconnecting other devices from WIFI to ease web traffic. Alternatively, maybe the WIFI router has some problems, you can try to reset the WIFI router.

2. Make sure you have paired your phone and the smart strip correclty by following the instructions on the screen.

3. Reset the smart strip to pair it with the phone app again:

● Cut off the power source.

● Press the power button of the light strip and connect the light strip to the power source again. When the strip lights flash in color, release the power button.

● When the light goes off, the reset is complete.

● Open the Mi Home app, the app will notify you the Yeelight smart strip is detected - follow the instructions to connect the light strip through the app.


Note:

1. Both the phone and the strip need to be connected to the available WiFi network.

2. The Yeelight Smart Light Strip only supports 2.4G WIFI signal (5G is not supported).

3. The name of the WIFI router/SSID should not contain any Chinese characters.

4. The strip only supports Android 4.0 and above and iOS 7.0 and above operating systems.

5. When the WIFI router security level is high, the light strip connection may be restricted. Simply lower network restrictions to connect the light strip, you can set the security back to you preferred level after the strip has been connected.
