If "Antimalware Service Executable" is running in the background, your PC may react slowly and delayed.
Antimalware Service Executable: What is it?
▪ The process belongs to Microsoft's antivirus program Windows Defender.
▪ Your PC hangs or reacts slowly because Windows Defender scans your hard drive in the background and checks it for viruses.
Usually you have a high CPU load after upgrading to Windows 10 when Windows Defender wants to scan all files at once.
Antimalware Service Executable: Disable?
Basically you should allow the scanning process and wait. Depending on the size of your hard drive and the number of files stored, this can take several hours or even the whole night.
In Windows 10, for example, Defender also starts scanning your files in the background when the computer is not in use. When you get back to working with your computer, the CPU usage of the process should decrease again.
If the high CPU load annoys you, you can deactivate Defender this way:
Windows 10:
1.For Windows 10: Opens Settings > Update and Security > Windows Defender > Open Windows Defender Security Center.
2. Click the shield icon on the left > Virus and threat protection settings.
3. Here you can disable real-time protection and cloud-based protection. However, the former will be automatically reactivated after a certain amount of time.
