According to the National Telecommunications Agency, the IMEI consists of four groups of numbers, presenting the sequence similar to: 000000-00-000000-0.
Why is it important to have your IMEI code well-guarded
The Agency highlights that keeping this number safe is important if you lose your phone or be robbed, and also before buying a new or used device.
In case of theft
If you lose your phone or it is stolen, you must report the incident to the provider (in the case of your telephone operator) and request the blockade. Once you have identified yourself, simply enter your cell phone number. No more need to provide the IMEI. Also, whoever lost the phone and, after blocking it, refound the device, can make the unlocking by calling the provider again.
It is Worth remembering that if you had the stolen phone, you need to go to a police station and register a case. You can also do this over the Internet if the police in your region allow online registration in case of thefts. In some states, the blockade can also be done directly by the police at the time of registration of the case.
How to find out the IMEI number of your phone:
1.Search the cell phone box;
2.Search on an adhesive behind the battery (in case of detachable rear);
3.Search for a sticker on the SIM card tray;
4.Type * #06 # on the phone and press the key to call "this number".
