What is the color temperature?

By  Valentin Cleaves 2020-01-04 1024 72

Color temperature (colo (u) r temperature) is the scale of light color of light source, which is measured in K (Kelvin). It has important applications in photography, video recording, publishing and other fields. The color temperature of the light source is determined by comparing its color with the theoretical thermal blackbody radiator. The Kelvin temperature when the thermal blackbody radiator matches the color of the light source is the color temperature of that light source, which is directly related to Planck's blackbody radiation law.

Color temperature is the most general index to indicate the spectral quality of light source. It is generally expressed as Tc. The color temperature is defined by the absolute blackbody. When the radiation of the light source is exactly the same as that of the absolute blackbody in the visible region, the temperature of the blackbody is called the color temperature of the light source. The characteristic of the low color temperature light source is that in the energy distribution, the red radiation is relatively more, which is usually called & amp;ldquo; warm light; when the color temperature increases, the energy distribution is concentrated, and the proportion of blue radiation increases, which is usually called "cold light". The color temperatures of some commonly used light sources are: standard candlelight is 1930K (Kelvin temperature unit); tungsten lamp is 2760tel 2900K; fluorescent lamp is 3000K; flash is 3800K; noon sun is 5600K; electronic flash is 6000K; blue sky is 12000,000K.

Usually the light seen by the human eye is made up of the spectrum of seven kinds of color light. But some of the light is blue, some is red, and the color temperature is a method specially used to measure and calculate the color composition of light. It was founded by the British physicist Lord Kelvin at the end of the 19th century, who developed a whole set of color temperature calculation methods. The specific standard is based on the wavelength emitted by a blackbody radiator.

Color temperature (ColorTemperature) is a performance index of high-grade display. When a light source emits light, it produces a set of spectra, which is the temperature needed to produce the same spectrum with a pure blackbody, which is the color temperature of the light source. The current 15-inch CNC display must have a color temperature adjustment function, through this function (generally there are 9300K, 6500K, 5000K three choices) can make the color of the display to meet the high standards of work requirements. Some high-end products also support color temperature linear adjustment function.
