Wi-Fi connection with router drops frequently? Here comes quick fix solutions!

You may experience random connectivity issues when you connect our GearBest Windows-based laptops to certain Wi-Fi "hot spots" because of wireless connection or poor performance issues. In fact, you have five solutions to solve it.

1. Use a power plug to power cycle the router.

If you can't see WiFi or Ethernet options in the list of networks, follow the easy steps cf-below:

Step 1. Remove the power plug from the router after turning it off.

Step 2. Plug in the power cord and turn it on.

Step 3. Check if your WiFi connection is back to normal. If not, you need to move on to the next solution.

2. Change your PC's adapter settings and power management.

If you still experienced a wireless connection issue, you can follow the steps cf-below in order to boost your WiFi signal and power savings.

Step 1. Right-click your "WiFi icon" at the bottom right corner and click "Open Network and Sharing Center".

Step 2. Click "Change adapter settings".

Step 3. Right-click your"WiFi adapter" and click "Properties".

Step 4. Click "Configure".

Step 5. Go to the "Power Management" tab. Untick the box for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". Click "OK".

3. Perform a reset of WiFi AutoConfig service.

If the solution 2 doesn't work and your system isn't able to identify or detect any WiFi or wireless network, you need then to reset the WiFi AutoConfig service.

Step 1. Press the "Windows logo" and Click on the "Search programs and files".

Step 2. Type "services.msc" and press "Enter".

Step 3. Locate "WLAN AutoConfig", observe his current status and open to make changes.

Step 4. Change the Startup type to "Automatic". Click "Start" to detect any wireless network, click "Apply" and "OK".

Step 5. Check if your WiFi connection is back to normal. If not, you need to move on to the next solution. 

4. Upgrade your antenna with a wireless router.

If your router has a removable antenna, you can upgrade it to a larger antenna that will produce a larger dB, or signal strength. Therefore, the WiFi signal will be strengthen as shown cf-below.

5. Update network wireless drivers.

If the previous solutions don't work to solve your problem, it's likely you are using a wrong network driver. There are two ways to get the right drivers for a wireless connection: manually or automatically. The biggest advantage in automatic is it will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for your exact wireless connection, and it will download and install them correctly.

Follow the steps to update network wireless driver automatically:

Step 1. Download Best Drivers Sofwares, and install it. 

Step 2. Run the software (for example Smart Driver Updater) and click the "Start Scan button". The software will scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

Step 3. Click the "Update button" for drivers updates and Click on "Download Selected".

Note: in manual, you can update your network wireless driver by going to the manufacturer's website, and searching for the most recent correct driver.

Still having WiFi problems?

Overall, don't panic, it's not always easy to get a good WiFi setup. Users will opt generally for solution 1 or 5 because the steps are easier.

If your wifi router still doesn't connect or you experience a slow internet connection, it might be a good idea to look at the router and devices you have and see if they should be upgraded.
