On Friday the new AMD Ryzen 3000 processors arrive. These processors promise to be a real headache for Intel. The new Ryzen 3000, based on Zen2 @ 7nm offer a brutal performance against the 'obsolete' 14nm from Intel. But every time you filter a benchmark of the new AMD processors, you see more and more the difference.
Now the Ryzen 9 3900X has been shown in the benchmark 3DMark Fire Strike Xtreme. This synthetic benchmark is one of the most used for hardware testing. As is logical it has destroyed the Intel Core i9-9900Ky the Core i9-9920X. Maybe the big catch of these new processors, are the prices of the motherboards and the fact that they need fan.
New benchmark of the Ryzen 9 3900X has been filtered
The Ryzen 9 3900X features 12 cores and 24 threads. It works at a base frequency of 3.8GHz and reaches 4.6GHz in Boost mode with a 64MB L3 cache. It has a DP of 105W and around 500 euros. A really great price for such a processor.
The MSI MEG X570 ACE motherboard, the most expensive in the market, has been tested at around 400 euros approximately. It comes with 2x8GB GDDR4 @ 3733MHz and has also mounted a RTX 2080.
Regarding the result, this AMD Ryzen 9 3900X scored 29 777 points in the physical tests of the processor. The Intel Core i9-9920X gives in this same benchmark about 27 000 points. We see that the difference between both processors is abysmal despite having the same number of cores.
It is clear that Intel needs to make the leap to 10nm urgently. The 14nm are now obsolete and have endured this lithography as long as they can. It is clear that it can no longer and that we have to take a leap of lithography.
