Android like iOS buyers remain loyal to their favorite system

The smartphone market is no longer as strong as it once was and many observers are seeing stagnation approaching. It must be said that growth has been slowing steadily in recent years, even though some Chinese players such as Huawei or Xiaomi still manage to shake up the positions of the major manufacturers.
New figures provided by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, which will be summarized in CIRP, tend to support consolidation by highlighting... the consumption habits of buyers.
More specifically, the firm conducts recurring surveys on smartphone renewal, focusing on the number of people choosing to stay on Android or iOS. These results tend to show the loyalty of buyers to one or the other OS.
In the last quarter, 92% of Android users who bought a new phone remained loyal to Android. This is a continuation of a long-standing loyalty in the market, which is explained both by the attractiveness of the operating system and the wide availability of the OS.
The most interesting one is the iOS case. In one quarter, the loyalty of buyers of the apple brand has almost reached that of Android and could even surpass it in 2019.
This study therefore tends to determine that Android or iOS buyers are now simply won over by their favorite system and no longer have the instinct to "see elsewhere if the grass is greener". It must be said that after 12 years of good and loyal services for iOS and 11 years for Android, the choice is now well anchored in consumer habits.
Add to that the latest major versions of both operating systems focus more on optimizing the experience than really changing it, and you have good reasons to simply stay on your feet. It is not surprising in this context that services are becoming more important than OSs themselves, a lesson Microsoft has already learned with Windows 10.
