Apple iPhone SE 2 or XE: Release date, design and hardware information
By Linky Johnson 2019-05-05 2063 0
The Apple iPhone SE was the affordable entry into the iPhone world and until recently the first and only choice for iPhone enthusiasts who like it particularly small and handy. The smallest of the current iPhones is the iPhone XS with a screen diagonal of 5.8 inches! In 2018, it was still the largest diagonal available. So there's plenty of room for a small iPhone SE 2 and a lot of air to go down. In a survey by COMPUTER BILD, the majority of participants were in favor of a mini-iPhone. But the chronicle of the disappointments so far extends with every keynote: Apple developer fair WWDC in June 2018, Apple keynote on September 12, 2018, Apple Special Event on October 30, 2018 and the Apple keynote on March 25, 2019. So far every (official) trace of a new (however named), small and cheap iPhone is missing. Only wishes and rumours remain ...
iPhone SE 2 - or iPhone XE?
The rather unknown site "PC-Tablet" reports that Apple is planning to release a small iPhone soon. This has been learned from industry circles of Indian works. The biggest innovation from this news, however, is not the fact that Apple wants to put something compact on the shelves with small hands, but rather that the name is to be "iPhone XE" instead of "SE". This report talks about iPhone XE appearing in 2019 and offering a screen diagonal of 4.8 inches. However, this is in stark contrast to other rumors that don't mention the new name and don't think it's likely to be released this year.
iPhone SE 2 or XE: New cheap smartphone only 2020?
One example is the DigiTimes report. According to sources from Apple's supply chain, the Californian tech giant is betting on OLED displays for all smartphones in 2019. Two models with panel technology are to be launched this year: one with a 5.8-inch display and the other with a 6.5-inch display. A smaller and cheaper iPhone, on the other hand, is not planned until 2020. In concrete terms, this model will come onto the market with a 5.42 inch OLED screen and new touch sensor technology. The traded supplier of these displays is Samsung. The South Korean company is able to offer OLED touch screens more cheaply thanks to its "Y-Octa" technology. The South Koreans are doing without a separate level of touch sensors. This depresses the price and thickness of an OLED display. Perfect for a cheap and small iPhone.
Hot or Notch?
It remains a rumor or, depending on taste, a wish that the next iPhone SE will get the Notch from iPhone X. A small, handy and affordable iPhone X could become a bestseller. There's no evidence of a Notch yet, just rumors. For example, a photo with protective films of the iPhone X and iPhone SE 2 side by side, posted by Twitter user Sonny Dickson, who already had some hits, but in the past was also wrong. The tweet should therefore be enjoyed with caution.
Apple iPhone SE 2 or iPhone XE: Design, Pictures
Smartphone insider Steve Hemmerstoffer alias OnLeaks showed a render image of the Apple iPhone SE 2 on Twitter. From the front, the device looks like a smaller iPhone X - including the tiny display recess at the top (notch). Several sources reported this in unison. On the picture was to be seen: As with the top model, the home button for Touch ID is missing. If you want to unlock the smartphone, you can use Face ID face recognition, provided it actually comes. The back is reminiscent of the predecessor of the iPhone SE 2 and is apparently made of metal. This means that the device could not be charged wirelessly. At the bottom of the smartphone there is a USB type C port, but no jack port.
iPhone SE 2 or iPhone XE: Memory, Camera
The MacRumor site assumes that Apple will install the A10 chipset of the iPhone 7 generation and set it to 2 gigabytes (GB) of RAM. With the internal memory, customers should have the choice between 32 and 128 GB. According to Tekz24 on the Indian side, Apple has opted for a 12-megapixel camera like the iPhone 7 and a 5-megapixel self-sufficiency camera like the iPhone 6S.
Apple announces new iPhones
The Eurasian Economic Union (EEC) has already granted Apple permission to sell new products in the Asian and European Economic Union. This approval is a prerequisite for the company to sell fresh mobile phones in Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Belarus. Eleven model numbers for new iPhones appear in the public entry on the authority's website. However, the numbers do not reveal which devices are involved. The only thing known is that the smartphones are equipped with the in-house operating system Apple iOS 12.
