Asus ROG Phone 2 vs Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro: What’s the difference?

Price: Black Shark 2 Pro is cheaper than ROG Phone 2

Price is a key factor that we must consider before buying. The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro comes with cheaper price than the Asus ROG Phone 2. As the Black Shark 2 Pro 12GB + 128GB edition is just priced at 2999 yuan (about $436), while the Asus ROG Phone 2 8GB + 128GB edition is priced at 3499 yuan (about $508). So the Black Shark 2 Pro is about $72 cheaper than the Asus ROG Phone 2.

Design: ROG Phone 2 has a larger screen and 3.5mm headphone jack

The design of the two phones is also different. The Asus ROG Phone 2 has the larger 6.59-inch screen, while the Black Shark 2 Pro only has 6.39-inch screen.

In addition, the ROG Phone 2 offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, while the Black Shark 2 Pro doesn’t have 3.5mm headphone jack and it only offers a Type-C port.   

In terms of weight, the ROG Phone 2 weighs 240g, while the Black Shark 2 Pro weighs 205g.   

Battery and charging: Asus ROG Phone 2 is better

The Asus ROG Phone 2 is equipped with a 6000mAh battery and it supports 30W fast charging, while the Black Shark 2 Pro only offers 4000mAh battery and support 27W fast charging. So the Asus ROG Phone 2 will offer you longer autonomy and faster charging speed.

Camera: Asus ROG Phone 2 offers higher pixels

Both Asus ROG Phone 2 and Black Shark 2 Pro come with dual rear cameras and a single front camera, but the Asus ROG Phone 2 offers you more pixels. The Asus ROG Phone 2 adopts 48MP + 13MP dual rear cameras and a 24MP front camera, while the Black Shark 2 Pro adopts 48MP +12MP dual rear cameras and a 20MP front camera. So the Asus ROG Phone 2 will perform better than the Black Shark 2 Pro.   

Screen refresh rate: Asus ROG Phone 2 has 120HZ high refresh rate

The refresh rate on the phone refers to how many times per second the phone redraws on the screen in Hertz. The higher refresh rate will offer you smoother scrolling and animations as well as less eye fatigue. We have experienced the awesome smoothness of the 90HZ refresh rate on the OnePlus 7 Pro, so you can imagine how powerful the 120HZ refresh rate will be.

The Asus ROG Phone 2 adopts 120HZ refresh rate, which will significantly improve the smoothness. While the official doesn’t specify the refresh rate specs of the Black Shark 2 Pro, and it just says the phone support 240HZ touch sampling rate. It is estimated that the refresh rate of the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 Pro cannot reach 120Hz, but thanks to its 12GB large running memory, the smoothness should be not much different from that of Asus ROG Phone 2.

In general, both Black Shark 2 Pro and Asus ROG Phone 2 are very powerful game phones at present. Although Black Shark 2 Pro has an advantage over ROG Phone 2 in terms of storage capacity and price, the ROG Phone 2 will offer you larger battery capacity, faster charging speed, 3.5mm headphone jack, better camera performance and larger screen.
