ASUS Zenfone 6 specs, release date and everything you want to know

By  Linky Johnson 2019-05-07 722 0

A few months ago, Zenfone 5 was launched in the country and shared opinions, mainly because it was one of the first devices that would be sold in the country with the famous notch, the notch at the top of the screen. Time has passed and the detail has become the preference of many users. Zenfone 6 (2019), on the other hand, has everything to follow a different path.

Full screen without notch in promotional image

Asus has released in its official Instagram account a promotional teaser for the launch event of Zenfone 6, which will take place on the 16th in Spain. The poster reveals some details of the front of the device and, apparently, the company confirmed by this image that it will not have notch at the top of the screen (we hope it does not have notch at the bottom, right?).

The absence of the notch increases the probability of the device having a slider shape, that is, with it will be possible to slide the back to use the cameras.

Zenfone 6 - Live release event on May 16th

Zenfone 6 will be launched on May 16th in Spain. The company will broadcast the product presentation event on Facebook live. To watch, simply return to the player below on the occasion or click the "set reminder" button to receive a notification on your mobile phone. The launch begins at 3pm during Brasilia time.

Zenfone 6 - Information passed by morse code

In a very peculiar way, new information about Zenfone 6 is coming in, and officially. Marcel Campos, global head of mobile marketing of the brand, is leaving messages encrypted in morse code in his Instagram profile. With each new photo published, new information appears.

According to them, it is possible to estimate the processor of the device, Snapdragon 855, and also the battery, 5,000 mAh. Other information is that of the cameras, which can be 48 MP and 13 MP, without optical or digital stabilization. More messages say that it does not take more than two, without specifying what you would be talking about, but may have to do with only two rear cameras.

There are many other messages that may be talking about the camera method that will be used for the front sensor. One of the biggest mysteries of the device, we know that it will not have notch, but it is not possible to say if it is slider, pop up or if it has another mechanism.

Zenfone with 18W fast charging

Approvals always reveal details about components and product specifications, such as what happened with the US FCC and the ASUS_I01WD model.

Because it is a regulator that certifies specific issues of connectivity, not many details were leaked about the device, which should be the Zenfone 6, only compatibility with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 18W fast charging. Recently the executive of the brand, Marcel Campos, commented that the next top of the Taiwanese line will not come with wireless charging technology or reverse wireless, although nothing has been said about fast charging. It is worth remembering that Zenfone 5Z also offers 18W fast charging.

Zenfone 6 possible design

Famous for anticipating some new developments from manufacturers, Evan Blass brings the possible renders of the next top of the Taiwanese line. There is no way to confirm that these are, in fact, the Zenfone 6 or if it is some kind of inspiration, or concepts and prototypes discarded by the team of designers of the brand.

The fact is that these renders corroborate some statements of the brand's executive, Marcel Campos, who although he has not officially confirmed such characteristics, said that the next model of the brand will abandon the notch. The concept also throws light on the other executive's speech that "Zenfone 6 will be a device very different from everything that Asus has already done. If a smartphone with double slider is not something different for you, then I can't even imagine what the Zenfone 6 will really be.

In the image below, also published by the leaker, we see some projects of Zenfone 6 where it is also not possible to say that some of them are in fact the final version or if they are only models discarded by the manufacturer:

Zenfone 6 without notch

Unlike some releases, the Zenfone 6, for now, follows without solid leaks on its news, even less than two months from the release, which will take place in Valencia, Spain. However, the brand itself is letting some details leak so that we have an idea of what to expect.

Marcel Campos, global head of mobile marketing of the brand, has already anticipated that the device will be something never seen in his particular channel. In addition, in a recent interview with the channel Loop Infinito, Campos states that the device will not have any notch, but also no camera behind the screen (retractable), leaving open the suggestion that we will have a pop-up scheme or slider. There will also be no biometric sensor below the screen.

Another fact that anticipated the absence of the notch, now "confirmed", was the insert that leaked through the hands of the Lowyat site, which is supposed to be part of the product's promotional material. It is worth considering that the same leak also anticipated the date and place of launch of Zenfone 6, later confirmed by Asus. It is possible to see that there is no notch at the top of the screen:

Zenfone 6Z was discarded

Zenfone 6 will be positioned as a premium model to fight with the top of the line, and there will be no Zenfone 6Z, being only one product. It will not have, also, according to Marcel Campos testimonials, water resistance (maybe to be slider or pop-up) or wireless charging, emphasizing that the battery life will exclude this need. OnePlus is another manufacturer that has also ruled out wireless charging for OnePlus 7.

Zenfone 6 with Snapdragon 855

The Zenfone 6 should be a device aimed at games and content creators, probably by the set of cameras and the performance that will put the series on a flagship level this year. Seen in Geekbench 3, the device had some of its specifications revealed.

The first one is the Snapdragon 855 processor that should package the model, accompanied by 6 GB of RAM. Asus' top of the line should also run with Android Pie and have other visual features that have already been revealed in other leaks, such as the absence of notch on the screen.
