Biostar X570 Racing GT8: the characteristics of the first Ryzen 3000 motherboard leaked

Biostar published on its website, in a PDF, the complete specifications of the new X570 Racing GT8 motherboard designed specifically for AMD Ryzen 3000 microprocessors. The company had already anticipated its arrival with a teaser.

Biostar X570 Racing GT8

In the Biostar catalog the GT8 Racing represents the enthusiast proposal, with the classic colors that distinguish the series: black with silver trim. The 12-phase VRM is cooled by 2 heatsinks and the AM4 socket is flanked by 4 slots for RAM memories.

And it is precisely here that Biostar reveals the first interesting detail: unlike the previous X470 which supported memories up to 3200 MHz, the new GT8 Racing supports memories up to 4000 MHz for a maximum of 64GB, which shows that the new AMD platform supports higher clock speeds than in the past. As reported in the past, the controller would be able to handle solutions up to 5000 MHz.

The card is equipped with 3 PCIe 4.0 x16 (x16, x8, x4) expansion slots, confirming support for the new PCIe standard. There are also three PCIe x1 for network or storage devices, the latter entrusted to 6 SATA III ports, in addition to the presence of three NVMe M.2 SSD slots, one of which can accommodate the full-length format.

All the M.2 slots are equipped with a passive heat sink to facilitate the cooling of the units, while the chipset is equipped with a heatsink actively cooled by a 7-blade fan, which can be activated or deactivated via a switch to reduce noise.

As for connectivity, on the I / O panel there is DisplayPort, HDMI, DVI, PS / 2, four USB 3.1 Gen1, two USB 3.1 Gen 2 (Type A + Type C), a Gigabit LAN port for Ethernet connectivity and audio jack 7.1.

We expect the new motherboards to offer maximum support for the new features offered by the Ryzen 3000, but it is important to remember that the new processors will also work on AM4 motherboards released in recent years.

For now, however, the only feature for which it will be interesting to test the new boards are the PCI slots, as they will be PCI Express 4.0 solutions, a first for the sector.

All that remains is to wait for the Taipei event scheduled for May 27th to finally discover all the details of the new platform and the complete offer of the various manufacturers, as well as (obviously) information on Ryzen 3000 processors.
