E3 2019 : Ubisoft Conference Summary - Too few new surprises

By  Linky Johnson 2019-06-11 357 0

The Ubisoft conference takes over from the PC Gaming Show. And if there were many leaks and pre-E3 announcements for the French publisher, several titles kept secret arouse our curiosity... and this despite the absence of Beyond Good & Evil 2. Here is a summary of what should be remembered at this conference.

WATCH DOGS LEGION: EMBODY WHOEVER YOU WANT

Following a musical break served by the Assassin's Creed Symphony Orchestra, the conference got off to a great start with a long gameplay sequence from Watch Dogs Legion. In this sequel, which abandons the concept of hero, the player embodies the NPCs recruited to join the DedSec resistance in a post-Dystopic Brexit London. The promise is simple... to play anyone and overthrow the extreme power in place. This open world TPS will be available on March 6, 2020.

NEW IP IS RARE

Ubisoft usually ends its conferences with a bang with an unannounced game. This year, Gods & Monsters, an action-adventure game, concluded the exercise. The creators of Assassin's Creed Odyssey unveiled a mythological adventure with a colourful artistic direction reminiscent of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Throughout the latter, players will face the creatures of Ancient Greece in environments that are conducive to exploration and discovery. Gods & Monsters will release the claws on February 25, 2020. The French publisher took advantage of this E3 2019 to highlight a title for the eSport scene. Roller Champions Champions as much fun to watch as to play according to the developers, probably hopes to compete with Rocket League & Co. A demo is available during the show (June 10-14).

UPLAY+ : A $14.99 SUBSCRIPTION ON PC

Not surprisingly, Ubisoft is launching its own subscription offer. Uplay+, exclusive to the PC, offers unlimited access to Ubisoft games and their additional content via the eponymous store and Stadia for $14.99. This new service will be online by September 2019 with about 100 titles in its catalogue and more to come.

SPECIALISTS RETURN TO SERVICE

Another actor who has been on the rise lately is coming to this E3. Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher...) arrives on the stage of the Orpheum Theater to present the character he plays in Ghost Recon Breakpoint... Cole D. Walker, the main antagonist at the head of The Wolves. Ubisoft will launch the Beta phase starting September 5, 2019 before a release on October 4. Operators are also sent on a new mission. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Quarantine is a cooperative SPF in which 3 players face a hostile environment and an unknown parasite. This new iteration of the saga will take up arms in early 2020.

CONTENT FOR GAMES AS A SERVICE

Ubisoft has no equal in enriching its titles and proves it once again. For Honor is hosting the Shadows of the Hitokiri event today with a new game mode. In Soul Rush, fighters face fallen soldiers in the heart of Kaidan village haunted by Sakura's victims. Each team must then collect 1000 souls to have a chance to seal their victory. Tom Clancy's The Division 2 detailed his plan for his first year of operation. The 3 episodes announced will be available respectively in July 2019, this autumn and to finish in early 2020. Officers will discover the biomes of the Washington D.C. Zoological Park, the Pentagon, Kenly College and Coney Island. On this "island", players will face an old comrade. It should be noted that the film The Division will be broadcast on the Netflix platform.

This Ubisoft conference of the E3 2019 will not be remembered. With the exception of the intriguing Gods & Monsters and the concept behind Watch Dogs: Legion, nothing could surprise the audience like a Just Dance 2020 run in advance. Tom Clancy fans were probably thrilled... the event being focused on this particular IP.
