EMUI: all you need to know if you have a Huawei or an honor

How to customize the interface
One of the advantages of EMUI is undoubtedly its level of customization. It is possible to define one of your photos as background, to group the applications in the dedicated folder, to navigate using physical keys or virtual keys, or to rearrange the applications in the screens. Just a few steps to adapt the interface to your tastes and needs.
Change background: settings > display > wallpaper > set wallpaper > gallery/other.
Activate the application drawer: go to Settings > view > home screen style > drawer.
Choose how to navigate the system: settings > smart helper > system navigation. Here, depending on the models, you can decide whether or not to enable the single navigation key to access the home screen, return to recent activities, activate the virtual navigation bar (and customize the combination of the keys) or opt for the quick menu.
Change quick settings: lower the drop-down menu and click the pencil icon.
Change the layout and rearrange apps: tap and hold your finger on the home screen and click settings, from here you can rearrange your apps and even shake your Smartphone to realign them.
Show battery percentage: settings > applications and notifications > notifications & status bar > battery percentage: "next to the battery icon "/ "in the battery icon ".
Add contact information on the lock screen: Settings > Security and privacy > lock screen > lock screen signature.
Turn off the pedometer on the lock screen: Settings > Security & privacy > lock screen > step count on locked display
Dive into the display menu
We often underestimate the importance of the display and the parameters associated with it. I'm not just talking about the brightness level, but also about the ability to change the color rendition of the displayed content, as well as customizing the font size.
Font size: settings > display > text size.
Change the size of the interface elements: settings > viewing > viewing.
Screen resolution: settings > display > screen resolution.
Screen brightness: settings > display > brightness.
Color temperature: settings > display > color temperature > default/hot/cold.
Color mode: settings > display > color mode > normal/vivid.
Filter the blue light of the screen: settings > display > eye comfort.
Hide notch: settings > display > more display settings > notch.
Screen off: settings > display > standby > 30 seconds is a good option to limit consumption.
View an application in full screen mode: settings > view > full screen view.
Screen rotation: settings > display > automatic screen rotation.
Increase touch screen sensitivity in winter: settings > smart support > glove mode.
Display photos on the lock screen while charging: settings > display > screen saver.
Make interaction with your device faster
All options offered by a device are not useful. On EMUI, there are some functions that I recommend you activate because they will allow you to optimize the interaction with your Smartphone and to access functions faster.
Find files at a glance: swipe down on the home screen and the search bar will appear.
Enable voice commands: settings > smart helper > voice command, to answer or reject voice calls.
Call a contact when the screen is off: press and hold the volume down key and then pronounce the contact name after the beep.
Wake up the Google Wizard: press and hold the home button and use the voice commands in English (don't forget to turn it on first in the Google app).
Open applications by drawing their initials on the screen: settings > smart support > gesture control > opening applications.
Share the screen in two: settings > smart support > motion control > screen partition.
Enable quick Launcher: from the lock screen, swipe up from the bottom to access the recorder, flashlight, calculator, timer, and camera.
Use two WhatsApp/Facebook accounts: settings > applications and notifications > twin application.
Enable unlock with facial recognition: Settings > Security & privacy > unlock with a smile
Enable one-hand operation: settings > smart support > one-hand navigation interface > display with minimized display.
Take a screenshot: instead of using the classic combination low volume + power button, press the screen with the joint of the phalange.
SafetyLocking your device with a PIN, password, schematic, fingerprint reader, or facial recognition will help protect your data. And if you have a life you want to keep secret, you'll be happy to find three functions designed for you!
Configure one or more fingerprints: Settings > Security and privacy > fingerprint identification.
Create a private island on your Smartphone by activating private space: Settings > Security and privacy > private space.
Encode photos, audio, videos and other files: Settings > Security and privacy > safe.
Block access to certain applications: Settings > Security and privacy > application Lockdown
Locate the device in case of loss or theft: Settings > Security and privacy > location data > enabled.
Install unknown applications: Settings > Security and privacy > other settings > install unknown applications.
Setting/disabling the SIM card PIN: Settings > Security and privacy > other settings > encryption and references > setting the SIM card lock 1
Take control of the camera
One of the components most used by users is rich in surprises, especially now that artificial intelligence is interfering more and more in smartphones. Introduced on the mate 10 Pro and the view 10 thanks to the NPU Kirin 970, the AI allows you to optimize the photo experience by choosing better settings and modes depending on the context.
Turn on Pro mode: open the camera app. swipe from left to right and click Pro photos or Pro video. Note that on Huawei the Pro mode opens with a swipe up from the camera start screen.
Take a picture when the screen is off: press the volume down button twice.
Quickly browse Gallery photos: open a photo in Gallery, pinch the screen to zoom out on the photo and scroll through the other photos.
Select multiple photos at once: open a folder, press a few seconds on the photo you want to select and swipe to select the others.
Create a bokeh effect: open the camera and click the icon that simulates the aperture of the lens. On Huawei, the portrait mode (bokeh effect) has the icon of a head in a circle. Then click on the object you want to focus on and take the picture.
Adjust the beauty effect: click on the portrait icon and slide your finger over the beauty level indicator.
Having fun with AR: activate AR lenses from the camera menu, click down on AR and select the effects you want to see in real time on the framed object.
Artist mode: to transform your photos into comics or to make art works (Prisma style).
Apply Instagram style filters before shooting: turn on filter from camera modes and click the three circles to view the nine filters in real time.
Take a picture with a smile: go to the camera settings by swipping the screen and turn on the capture of smiles.
Scan a document: open the camera and click Scan document. Frame the business card and scan by following the instructions.
Enable/disable AI: depending on the device, you can access it by accessing the camera app and clicking Settings > AI or by selecting the AI button on the screen you will see when you launch the camera.
Apply the grid: launch the camera app, settings > composition grid > grid.
Set the timer on the shutter: launch the camera, select settings > timer and select between 2/5 or 10 seconds.
No miracle, unfortunately, you will not be able to make the battery of your Smartphone last more than two days. However, you can monitor and manage consumption using dedicated options and, if supported, you can take advantage of the fast charge to get all the energy you need in a short time.
Enable power saving mode: to restrict applications in the background, disable automatic synchronization of emails and music from the system.
Opt for ultra-energy saving mode: for emergencies, this mode allows the use of very few applications, which greatly limits the user experience.
Know what consumes a lot of energy: settings > battery > consumption level.
Optimize consumption: settings > battery > optimize, and now follow the recommendations you want to apply.
Show remaining load percentage: settings > battery > battery level
Set the black background on the interface to save battery: settings > battery > interface darkening.
Using reversed Wireless charging: settings > battery > wireless reverse charge

Other useful suggestions
If you are a geek and want to control the most advanced features of the system, here are some additional tricks:
Enable developer options: settings > system > phone info > serial number, click it until you see the notification of successful activation.
Resetting your Smartphone: settings > system > reset > factory data reset.
Update system: settings > system update
Manage two SIM cards at the same time: settings > wireless and networks > managing dual SIM cards.
Programming the ignition of the Smartphone to trigger the alarm: settings > smart support >
programmed ignition/shutdown; Set the ignition time, then the alarm time.
Transferring data from an old Smartphone: download phone clone on both devices (Huawei, honor or Apple) and select the data to transfer.
Best audio experience: settings > sound > Huawei Histen sound effects (connect the headphones to the device or the voice will not appear in the menu).
