EVGA unveils its SR-3 Dark (LGA3647) motherboard for Xeon W-3175X

ASUS and Gigabyte were the first two to follow Intel in its announcement of the Xeon W-3175X, offering high-end motherboards, more or less equal to the debauchery represented by this product. But they are not alone. We know that EVGA was working on a product unveiled at Computex 2019: the SR-3 Dark.
An emblematic reference for the brand, which is not at its first product test, halfway between the extreme performance needs of the amateur and professional solutions. We remember the legendary Classified SR-2 released in 2010 and the SR3 that became Classified SR-X in 2012.
Both of them nevertheless had a rather emblematic feature: they could accommodate two Xeons. This is not the case with the SR-3 Dark, which must be satisfied with a single LGA 3647 socket. We can see a "betrayal" of the range, the manufacturer probably telling himself that with a processor with 28 native cores, a single socket is enough for a workstation. This is an impossible figure to achieve without a 2P solution for SR-2/SR-X.
The characteristics, prices or availability of this model are not yet known. For the moment, we notice that the card exploits several advantages of the Dark range such as the positioning of the DDR4 ports which takes the one usually found in servers, the PCB cut in places, etc..
There are also no less than six 3.0 x16 PCIe slots (without wiring details), U.2 slots, numerous power connectors, two digital code indicators, buttons and other finishes that should appeal to overclocking enthusiasts, the main target of such a product.
