FIIDO D2 review: is it worth buying?
By Fields Corrielus 2019-07-20 10766 0
It took half a year for FIIDO to launch the new D2, so I bought this new model without hesitation.
Originally I intended to send a test post after riding it for 500km distance, but I found many netizens asked me for the situation of D2 in my previous post — the post sent when I lost FIIDO D1, so I send this simple introduction now.
Don't talk too much nonsense. Let’s open the box!
When I get D2’s box, I feel it is smaller than that of D1, and the folding design of D2 looks better. Open the box, then you can see the whole body of the bike, folded, anti-collision, and anti-wear parts are well protected.
It is proposed that this bike can stand independently. In fact, it does a good job in folding and accommodating. At a glance, you can see the new VI design has been adopted on the body of it, which looks more fashionable. You can see its complete body after simply assembling and unfolding it, which is really handsome.
All spare parts, except the necessity for bike, include charging wire, inner hexagonal wrench, flat wrench, instruction and certificate.
Next, let's look at details, I start from the head of bike.
The left handlebar mainly includes control switch of bike lights, switch of gear, switch of horn, and mobile phone bracket lies beside. The bike body has a USB interface, which can charge your phone directly.
The right handlebar mainly includes switch of power and key as well as the battery level screen, which can be accurately seen.
The folding fastener of the bike head has anti-stripping design, which is safer than the folding fastener of safe bike head.
As for the headlamp design of this bike, I feel its lamp range is bigger than D1 in same amount of electricity. D2’s fender is long enough — this detail is hardly noticed by other bike suppliers, because they care more about the beautiful appearance. Although fenders are not good-looking, they are very practical. D2 uses Zhengxin tire — a brand with higher cost-performance than the same types from other suppliers; as for wheel diameter, D2 is adjusted to 16 inches based on D1. The aim is to make riding more comfortable.
Attention should be paid to the scaly solder joints on the bike body, which are relatively uniform, but occasionally there is a lack of neatness. The manufacturing process has been greatly improved. Obviously, the LOGO on the bike body has also changed on the basis of D1. In fact, I feel that the whole VI design of their company has changed, and I prefer the new design.
The design of seat hasn't been changed much. It still has ergonomic design, and it's comfortable to sit. The folding fastener of its crossbeam is also made with anti-stripping design. Although this is a very small design, it adds safety invisibly.
After the middle folding fastener is opened, five metal contact wafers are the key link to connect rechargeable battery and engine. The biggest change of D2 compared with D1 is seismic design(soft tail design). Here, the seismic design greatly increases the riding pleasure. As far as the current experience is concerned, the effect is very good.
The bike pedal still has foldable design, which can greatly reduce the folding volume. The bike brace design is also practical. In fact, the design of D2 is quite different from that of D1 in the latter half of the bike body. I prefer the design of D2, whose details are more reasonable.
Finally, let’s make a summary. At present, I have ridden it for 200 km around.
Advantages:
1. Charging efficiency is relatively high (obviously, its charging time is less than D1).
The engine has plenty of electricity (compared with D1, D2’s engine obviously has different electric mode. D1 is more impulsive, and it goes very fast at the beginning of riding while D2 is slowly accelerated by a more powerful engine).
Convenient for carry (the weight of two generations is similar).
4. Multiple modes to choose (pedal mode, moped mode, and pure electric mode for different needs).
5. The workmanship is meticulous and the quality is good.
The anti-vibration ability is quite good. Maybe the manufacturer has also seen the feedback from consumers, so anti-vibration design has been added to the body of the bike, which greatly improves the riding feeling.
Disadvantages:
1. The battery capacity has been reduced, and the corresponding total endurance distance has also been reduced. I've done limit tests, riding 26km around with a single battery(the battery has full electricity).
I ride this bike these days, getting a very high rate of second glance. My friends also say it's very handsome. FIIDO D2 is really worth buying.
