First Android Pie Realme phone: Realme 2 Pro

By  Adeline Belluz 2019-05-12 188 0

It's been about four months since the Realme brand, initially from OPPO, launched the Realme 2 Pro. The company was committed to delivering new updates to its smartphones in the first half of 2019, and now there is an indication that it will deliver on that commitment, at least for this device.

Android Pie will soon arrive at Realme 2 Pro

A model, which is suspected to be the Realme 2 Pro, has been detected in the database of the GeekBench reference application. What makes the GeekBench list stand out is the presence of the Android 9.0 Pie operating system. Currently, the device runs ColorOS 5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, but could soon receive the latest version of Google's OS for phones.

If the device without a name turns out to be the Realme 2 Pro, it will be the first model of the company to obtain Android Pie. That should not be a big surprise, since it is the most expensive in its catalog.

The model filtered in GeekBench appears as "Unknown RMX1801", but it is suspected that the device is Realme 2 Pro because the compilation numbers of its software start with "RMX", which agrees with its identity. Apart from that, the terminal appears with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipsets package, and the 2 Pro is the only Realme smartphone with that processor. In addition, it can also be seen with 4 GB of RAM.

We believe that the update will arrive soon, but it is possible that it is still in deep proof. If we talk about speculating, it could be arriving at any time in February or next month. This would be distributed as OTA, but it is likely that the brand will first plan to deploy a trial version to ensure that it distributes a truly stable version on the smartphone, just as most mobile manufacturers usually proceed on this issue.
