Galaxy watch active review

Compared to the previous model loses the ring nut and becomes much more compact, it weighs only 25 grams and has the ingenious of the strap that closes so as not to cause any discomfort. In the package we find, in addition to the wireless charging board, a replacement strap for those who have the largest wrist.
On the back there is obviously the heart rate sensor that remains constantly active but that can be turned off and used only during activities, or when we are interested. Very precise, I compared it with my FitBit, and convenient the ability to let us know if the beats exceed a certain threshold.
Very nice this AMOLED that turns out to be very visible even under direct sunlight and, above all, does not have a beacon effect in the evening. Really well calibrated, 1.1″ in diameter and with 360 pixels resolution.
Obviously Tizen and with an interaction that changes: there is no ring and then everything is reachable with simple swipe. Left widgets, right notifications and below rapid toggles (which are perhaps too many), while the button on the side you access applications. By swiping the bottom right we get the chance to put music, you can in fact connect headphones to the watch, so you go out for our sports activity without a phone.
Let's talk about notifications: really well managed thanks to the fact that you can read all the messages linked in full and respond with a smiley face, a voice message or a predefined text message and keyboard (the latter is really difficult to use a smartwatch). Bixbi is not very smart in the recognition of voice messages but it is still reliable, the vibration is strong enough and you do not lose any notification.
But speaking of autonomy, which is almost always the cons of this category, Galaxy Active can do a full day if we use the always on active, otherwise you can do about two and a half days, recommended option since the movement of the wrist to reactivate it is always recognized. Obviously the consumption changes if you activate the GPS for the activity, in this case the smartwatch loses about 10% every hour.
As for the activities: swimming in the sea or in the pool as it is waterproof to 50 meters, cycling, running and many more.
Thanks to the collaboration with Samsung I have a year subscription to MyFitness Pal that is integrated with the app that we use on our smartphone.
The app is much better on Android but it also works on iOS, it gives us all the statistics, the connection to Health and also to Samsung Pay. As for the latter, since the Galaxy Active is equipped with NFC, just press the dedicated button and you can place it at the POS to pay.
There are also a lot of exercises that can be monitored by the app!
It's a pretty sporty smartwatch, smart enough but I'm missing support to make the most of the GPS. 249 euro is the price, it is not yet perfect but it does everything well and... Lately I prefer Tizen to WearOS which is becoming a bit 'too cumbersome.
