Android smartphones are now available from countless manufacturers and each tries to stand out with its own design elements from the crowd. Well-known companies like Samsung (Samsung Experience), LG (LG UX) and Co. are adapting the user interface of Android and adding new features. Moreover, it is customary to give the whole a succinct name.
EMUI: What does the abbreviation stand for?
Huawei also follows smartphones, such as the Huawei P20 (Pro), its own design language. The manufacturer calls the user interface of his devices "EMUI". In addition to its own devices, the UI is also used for smartphones of the subsidiary "Honor". But since when does EMUI exist and what does the abbreviation actually stand for?
EMUI was first introduced in version 1.0 on December 30, 2012 for the Ascend P1. At that time, the user interface was still called "Emotion UI" (Emotion User Interface). From UI version 3.0 Huawei has decided to officially use only the short form EMUI and drop the original name. When designing the manufacturer is often based on Apple's iOS operating system. So you can find on the homescreen initially no App folder, which is typical for Android devices. Also, a kind of "Control Center", as we know it from the iPhone, emerges in EMUI. Nevertheless, the user interface is constantly being developed and equipped with additional functions.
An overview of the versions can be found here:
