On February 21, Huawei Terminal announced again that its first folding screen 5G mobile phone will be officially released at the MWC (Mobile World Conference) in Barcelona, 2019 at 14:00 on February 24, 2019.
On February 20, Vodafone, the world's second-largest mobile operator, announced that it had experimented in Madrid and Barcelona to connect 5G mobile phones to 5G mobile networks for the first time, while the measured 4K ultra-high resolution video calls were 10 times faster than the current 4G technologies.
Vodafone's official Twitter account also shows a screenshot of the 5G mobile phone accessing the 5G network. The mobile phone signal logo shows the 5G network, and the mobile phone they test is a folding screen phone, but it is not Samsung's Galaxy Fold, because there is no space reserved for front-end cameras in the upper right of the mobile phone.
Later, the foreign media reported that the phone the Vodafone has tested is Huawei folding screen mobile phone, which Huawei had sent it to foreign operators for testing in November last year. They have verified the stability of Kirin 980 + Balong 50005G baseband combination scheme.
According to the industry chain, Huawei will release the folding screen mobile phones on February 24, and has begun to place orders for production. However, it will be sold in the form of super-limited quantity. The main reason is that the quality rate of folding screen is too low to be produced on a large scale. The total orders of the Huawei folding screen are expected to be about 200,000 units this year. The biggest feature of the phone is the use of out-folding design, namely, the two screens on the phone are folded outward, and the screen size is 8.05 inches after unfolded while it is only 7.3 inches on Samsung Galaxy Fold.
In addition, the details of the Huawei folding screen phone are that it is equipped with Kirin 980 processor and has a built-in baseband of Balong 5000 (peak download rate is 4.6 Gbps, which is 10 times the download rate of 4G LTE). This means that the mobile phone supports 5G network and it is also compatible with 2G, 3G, and 4G network), while the built-in memory of the mobile phone is 10GB, and it provides up to 512GB of storage. The Huawei Mate 20 X comes with a pricy 2299 EUR (about $2608). which is more expensive than Samsung Galaxy Fold.
