HUAWEI Nova 3 vs. HUAWEI Honor 10: the looks
At the first glance, the two phones are very much similar. Both feature slick glass bodies with an aluminum frame and come in beautiful gradient color schemes. You will see the infamous notch on both devices — a generous tribute to the iPhone X. Note (if that makes any difference) that Nova's notch is slightly longer than that on the Honor 10 and houses a dual front-facing camera (compared to a single front-facing camera on the Honor 10).
Size-wise, the two phones are more similar than different. The Honor 10 measures 5.89 x 2.8 x 0.3 inches while the Nova 3 is 6.18 x 2.9 x 0.29 inches.
On the back, you will find a horizontally positioned dual rear facing camera on the Honor 10, while the Nova 3's dual cam is placed vertically. The Huawei Nova 3 also sports a rear fingerprint sensor — as for the Huawei Honor 10 has its fingerprint sensor right on its hoe button
As we've mentioned above, the phones take a gradient approach to color. The Honor 10 is available in green, blue, midnight grey and glacier grey. The Nova 3 comes in a brighter selection of blue, purple, gold, red and black.
HUAWEI Nova 3 vs. HUAWEI Honor 10: HD bezel-less screens
The notch at the top of both phones' screens hints at the fact that they favor a bezel-less look — with all the benefits one has to offer. The Huawei Nova 3 comes with a slightly large 6.3 inch display with 1080 x 2340 resolution, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 409 pixels per inch density.
The Honor 10 sports a 2280 x 1080 5.84 inch screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 432 pixels per inch.
The little differences are there, but, in general, both displays do a great job with media: watching videos, browsing the web, playing games, etc. is very convenient on a larger screen and the HD resolution plays well into the mix adding quality to quantity. The high pixel density ensures smooth color gradients, clear imagery and sharp text. Screen brightness, even under strong sunlight, is quite good as well. The one drawback is the absence of any screen protection for such large displays like Gorilla Glass — so don't delay getting a screen protector.
HUAWEI Nova 3 vs. HUAWEI Honor 10: Kirin 970 chipset and performance
The key thing that the Huawei Nova 3 and the Huawei Honor 10 have in common is the high performing Kirin 970 chipset, a new-generation chipset sporting ultra-fast connection, smart computing capability, HD audio-visual effects and great battery efficiency. The processor is clocked at 2.4GHz and there is the Mali-G72 MP12 graphics processing unit to accompany your gaming.
The Huawei Nova 3 also comes with something called GPU Turbo technology — a software enhancement meant to boost your mobile gaming experience.
The fact that Huawei have chosen the same processor for both smartphones is a bit peculiar — but then again, in this case, too much of a good thing actually works quite well.
When it comes to memory and storage, you can get the Honor 10 with 4GB or 6GB and 64GB or 128GB; the Honor 10GT comes with 8GB RAM. As for the Huawei Nova 3, the phone is available with one memory option — 6GB and two internal storage variations: 64GB or 128GB.
Battery-wise, things are also more similar than different. You get a 3750 mAh battery on the Nova 3 and a slightly smaller 3400 mAh battery on the Honor 10.
A difference of note is that while the Honor 10 does come with NFC support, the feature has been omitted on the Nova 3.
HUAWEI Nova 3 vs. HUAWEI Honor 10: camera game
The Nova 3 has received a number of upgrades in the camera field. Namely, there is a dual camera on the front (compared to a single front cam for the Honor 10) and a number of AI features. Both phones get a 16-megapixel primary rear sensor and a 24-megapixel secondary sensor with f/1.8 aperture. The Nova 3 complements this setup with enhanced AI functionality: the phone's cam can recognize objects and scenes, enhance colors and adjust exposure. You can shoot videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second — but there is no digital image stabilization so make sure to hold the camera steady.
On the front, the HUAWEI Nova 3 has a 24-megapixel selfie shooter with a 2-megapixel sensor for depth. The AI feature works with selfies as well — and does very well for Portrait Mode. Another fun features is the HDR Pro Toggle which adjusts exposure for your selfies preventing them from looking over-exposed.
HUAWEI Nova 3 vs. HUAWEI Honor 10: the verdict
Choosing between the Nova 3 and the Honor 10 is no easy task. But not because it would take you hours to compare features and specs, but because you would do equally well with both devices — they are simply not that different. The Nova 3 does bring a stronger camera setup and you get a slightly larger screen. With that, there is no NFC support, which you do get on the Honor 10. Then, there is the price difference. You will need $500 to get the shiny new Nova 3, while the Honor 10 can be yours for under $400.
