Full screen extends: Matebook X Pro upgrade version
Huawei MateBook X Pro is the company's high-end notebook product released last year, the "full screen" is the biggest highlight in the design.
This year, Huawei makes some improvements on the basis of original Huawei MateBook X Pro series。
The Huawei MateBook X Pro upgrade version also has a 13.9-inch screen with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 pixels. Its screen to body ratio reach the industry’s highest level of 91%. Besides, it has a 3K screen with a pixel density of 260, the sRGB gamut (typical value) of 100%, a maximum brightness of 450 NIT and a contrast of 1500:1. On the screen side, Huawei has learned from its experience in the mobile phone industry, introducing LTPS (cryogenic polysilicon technology) screens for notebooks to enhance the display experience and reduce power consumption. In addition, the screen supports 10 touch points, blue-light filter eye protection technology and so on.
Despite this, the Huawei MateBook X Pro upgrade version has almost the same size and weight as the original one, namely, the size is 304 x 217 X 14.6 mm and the weight is 1.33kg. The main upgrade lies in the performance. The new Huawei MateBook X Pro upgrade version adopts the 8th generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processor, which is 40% better than the 7th generation processor. The graphics card has also been upgraded to NVIDIA GeForce MX250 with 2GB GDDR5 independent memory. The interface is upgraded to the Thunderbolt 3 standard interface and the transmission throughput is upgraded to 40Gb. And it also supports external graphics card and external 4K display device. In addition, there are other hidden upgrades, such as WiFi and Bluetooth. The connection speed of the WiFi can be up to 1733 Mbps and the Bluetooth version is upgraded to Bluetooth V5.0 which has twice the speed, fourfold signal range and eightfold broadcast expansion of the last generation. And it also can be connected with more Bluetooth devices.
Newly released Huawei MateBook 14
Huawei MateBook 14 is a new product released at this launch event. As you can see from its name, it is a notebook with a 14-inch touch screen with the 2160 x 1440 resolution, 185 pixel density and 100% sRGB color gamut. It offers two colors: deep space ash and bright moon silver. It inherits the full screen design style. The screen to body ratio is up to 90%. The upper left and right border just measures 4.9 mm. Because the border is narrow, the camera is hidden in the keyboard. The whole body measures 307.5 x 223.8 x 15.9mm and weighs 1.49kg.
In fact, the size of the Huawei MateBook 14 has not been increased so much compared with last year's 13-inch product. Huawei has applied the concept of full screen to the mid-range notebooks to cater to young consumers.
According to Huawei, the product also uses a 3:2 aspect ratio, which they believe maximizes screen display in Web browsing, photo browsing, video browsing and other scenarios.
In terms of configuration, Huawei MateBook 14 has different hardware combinations. The top-end model is equipped with Intel 8th Generation (Whiskey Lake) Core i7-8565U processor, NVIDIA GeForce MX250 independent graphics card, and Huawei's Shark Fin Fan 2.0 is also put in this notebook, which can achieve a quick heat dissipation for the slim body.
In terms of battery performance, the Huawei MateBook 14 supports USB-C charging as well as a fast charging technology similar to mobile phones. Officials claim that 15 minutes charging can meet the daily office use needs of 3 hours. Specific battery capacity is not announced, but it says that the notebook supports local 1080P video playback for 15 hours, or normal office work for 14 hours, or web browsing for 10.5 hours.
When Huawei released MateBook X Pro last year, some media commented that they used the idea of making mobile phones to make notebook products. This year, this idea continues, and they are even further improved. The performance upgrade of Huawei MateBook X Pro is to be expected, while MateBook 14 is unexpected. This mid-range notebook makes a good balance between appearance and performance, and it is also a notebook which has a full screen and support touch control.
