iOS 13 and iPadOS compatible devices

By  Jocelyn Longoria 2019-06-04 465 0

Apple announced the big update to iOS 13 and iPadOS on Monday in the course of the WWDC keynote, which is especially aimed at tablets. It's already clear which iPhones and iPads will receive the new operating systems - we'll tell you.

With iOS 13 and iPadOS, various new functions are moving into iPhones and iPads. However, not all devices that received the update to iOS 12 in 2018 can be found in the list of update candidates.

iOS 13: iPhone 6 and older don't get update love any more

The update jump from iOS 11 to iOS 12 was painless and without any losses. All models running on iOS 11 were lifted to the next iOS iteration as well. With iOS 13 it looks a bit different.

After five or six years of regular OS updates, Apple pulls the plug on the iPhone 5s introduced in 2013 and the iPhone 6, 6 Plus 2014 models. The devices remain on iOS 12. The same applies to the sixth generation iPod Touch, which was recently replaced by a new model.

iOS 13 will land on the following devices in autumn:

▪ iPhone XS

▪ iPhone XS Max

▪ iPhone XR

▪ iPhone X

▪ iPhone 8

▪ iPhone 8 Plus

▪ iPhone 7

▪ iPhone 7 Plus

▪ iPhone 6S

▪ iPhone 6S Plus

▪ iPhone SE

▪ iPod Touch (seventh generation)

iPadOS: These iPads get the big update

The situation is similar with the new iPad-specific version of iOS1 13, which the company will call iPadOS in the future. Most of the models that received iOS 12 last year will also receive their major update in 2019, including mouse control, new gestures, windows and more. Only the first iPad Air, launched in 2013, and the iPad Mini 2 from the same year are out.

These iPads get the big update

Accordingly, the following iPads will receive the update to iPadOS:

▪ iPad Pro (12.9-inch)

▪ iPad Pro (11-inch)

▪ iPad Pro (10.5-inch)

▪ iPad Pro (9.7-inch)

▪ iPad (fifth generation)

▪ iPad (fifth generation)

▪ iPad Mini (fifth generation)

▪ iPad Mini 4

▪ iPad Air (third generation)

▪ iPad Air 2

Update to watchOS 6: All Apple Watch models on board

Update to watchOS 6

When updating to watchOS 6, Apple does not leave any of its smart watches out in the rain. All models of the series 1, 2, 3 and 4 will get the next big OS version. However, the company points out that not all Apple Watches will receive all new functions. However, Apple does not yet mention any concrete details.
