iPhone 11 specs, release date, price and other rumors

By  Linky Johnson 2019-05-05 642 0

There are many rumours about new iPhones, which may be launched as iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max in 2019. A video now released shows what Apple mobile phones might look like according to current knowledge

It will be a while before the official presentation of the next iPhone model. First details, leaks and clues to the new Apple mobile phone have been making the rounds for quite some time. A website has now picked up all the circulating information and created a render video based on it that shows what the supposed iPhone 11 might look like. At first glance, the triple camera stands out, whose lenses are arranged in a triangle and protected by a square frame. As with current iPhone models, the cameras protrude slightly from the housing.

iPhone 11: Optically hardly any innovations

The iPhone is rumored to be very similar to the iPhone XS. Although the notch and display edge should be somewhat narrower, this is hardly noticeable, at least in the computer model. The display is supposed to be 5.8 inches in size, the back is supposed to consist of a continuous glass plate. The iPhone 11 measures 14.39x7.14x0.78 centimeters according to the video's creator. Although Apple rumors that the upcoming iPhone will have a USB-C port, the video shows a device with a Lightning port. Whether the creators of the model know more than previous insiders remains unclear. If the details shown in the video prove to be true, the iPhone won't change much, at least not externally.

iPhone 11: Three models again

Nevertheless, the Apple community is still eagerly awaiting the new mobile phones. What can the manufacturer from Cupertino come up with for the iPhone 11 to convince the fans of the new smartphone? Digitimes.com reports with reference to sources from supplier circles that, like 2018, three new iPhone models are coming out. Two of the new mobile phones come with OLED displays in sizes 5.8 and 6.5 inches, the third variant has an LCD panel and, according to rumours, measures 6.1 inches. A new edition of the iPhone SE is only planned for 2020.

iPhone 11: New design rumors

As far as the design is concerned, there are many rumours: A picture of a component that has now appeared at the Weibo Short Intelligence Service is further heating it up. If one assumes that the picture is real, the following conclusions can be drawn: First, there seems to be little change in the current format of the iPhones. Secondly, the large recess in the middle indicates that this iPhone also contains the technology for wireless charging. Third, the top left component has recesses for the new triple lens, which has also been seen in other design leaks.

iPhone 11: Another design leak

Even a "leak" (or invention?) at the beginning of January showed a similar design in a render image by designer Ben Geskin, who bases his mockup on the Apple iPhone 2019.

Equally questionable is a second design that was shown on the Indian website Compareraja. In contrast to the first picture by Geskin, or the first "absolutely real picture" by Twitter user @OnLeaks, the second (once again) "absolutely real version" shows a different camera, which is now in a central three-way constellation instead of a lateral square. Since both ideas come from the same source (@OnLeaks) and both times it was said that this is definitely the real iPhone 11, one can safely assume that both versions are probably fictitious and not true. Nevertheless, we don't want to withhold the pictures from you.

Apple iPhone 11: Larger battery pack

According to a media report, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared information that Apple intends to follow suit in the area of power supply. The iPhone 11 in the 5.8-inch version probably gets a battery that exceeds the capacity of its immediate predecessor, the iPhone XS, by 10 to 15 percent. The power memory of the larger iPhone 11 Max is expected to be even more powerful. The successor to the iPhone XS Max with a 6.5-inch display will therefore have a battery with a capacity 20 to 25 percent higher than that of its predecessor. It should also be possible to charge other devices wirelessly via the iPhone 11 battery. This is already possible with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10. It's not the first time that rumors about an increased battery capacity for the iPhone 11 have made the rounds. It would always make sense, because the current iPhones did particularly badly in the battery comparison.

Apple iPhone 11: Camera trio on board?

As early as May 2018, the Taiwanese website Economic Daily News (via SlashGear) reported that an additional camera lens was being used for the iPhone model 2019 and iPhone 11 respectively. The current generation, such as the iPhone XS, is equipped with two cameras each, which allow double optical zoom as well as blur and light effects in portrait mode. However, there are now numerous mobile phones that are equipped with even more cameras on the back. So it's not surprising that another reference to a lens trio has now appeared on the upcoming Apple smartphone: technology blogger Steve "McFly" Hemmerstoffer has published pictures of the back of the iPhone 11 showing five cutouts. One of each could be for flash and microphone - the other three for cameras.

And what's the point? There are many areas of application: hobby photographers enjoy triple optical magnification, while 3D enthusiasts enjoy more precise distance and object capture. Thanks to the lens trio, the next generation of iPhones may recognize their own position using triangulation in a room and can be used for augmented reality (AR) functions, such as fading in floating text or 3D models. Apple has been using time-of-flight sensors for this purpose. They calculate distances using the run-time method, but are limited in their practical application and depend on several environmental factors.

iPhone 11: Sandblasting for rough surfaces

The analyst and insider Ming-Chi Kuo recently presented some novelties and changes that Apple may come up with in the future. These included the iPhone XI - iPhone 11, according to which Apple will be using a sandblast finish on the glass on the back in the future, which will create a rough surface. Google has opted for a similar design for pixel 3.

Apple iPhone 11: Price Info

How much do the upcoming iPhones cost? A question that is not only of interest to consumers, but which Apple is also currently looking into intensively. After all, some prices beyond the 1,000 euro mark are said to have caused the current iPhone generation to sell much worse than expected by the group. Christmas sales were disappointing for the manufacturer, especially in China. As droidshout.com reports, Apple is reacting to the experience. According to the report, the company packs a lot of new features into its mobile phones and changes their design, but doesn't impact on prices.

In other words, the devices of the next generation cost the same as their predecessors. So good news for consumers? Not necessarily. Because if the forecast is correct, a look at the current top model shows that the mobile phones expected for autumn 2019 will also be anything but cheap: For the iPhone XS Max in the top configuration, Apple is currently charging a whopping 1,649 euros. And even for the cheapest device of the model year, the iPhone XR, buyers are paying 849 euros. It's impossible to say whether there's anything to the droidshout.com report - the editors don't mention a source for the info. However, in view of the current meagre sales figures, it can probably not be assumed that Apple will continue to increase prices.

Apple iPhone 11 without 3D Touch?

There are numerous rumors about the technical specifications on the Internet: the iPhone manufacturer may plan to stop equipping its smartphones with 3D touch in the future, reports Softpedia. The display technology recognizes how hard a finger is pressing - and then opens a menu with common functions, for example. In the future, Apple could try to achieve similar functionality via software as is the case with some Android models. The Wall Street Journal unanimously reports that Apple plans to forego 3D touch for cost reasons. Since the iPhone 6S, Apple's smartphones have been equipped with this technology. The hardware of the Apple Watch also masters 3D touch and will probably continue to do so in the future.

Apple iPhone 11: Fully grown at last?

It's surprisingly quiet when it comes to display size. It's quite possible that Apple's delusions of grandeur have come to an end and the diagonals remain unchanged. Reports circulating at Weibo say that the refresh rate increases to 90 to 120 Hertz. But that's more of an academic improvement in the datasheet, as long as you haven't been annoyed by a flickering display or a jerky display.

Apple iPhone 2019 with fingerprint sensor?

But what about the features? Is there a fingerprint sensor in the display? It works on some Android devices. For Apple this was no longer an issue after the disappearance of the home button. But now a patent is emerging that at least suggests the return of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. Face ID has actually replaced this method. According to the patent, both could be used in parallel in the future to increase security. According to the patent, a device should always query the fingerprint if facial recognition fails. However, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that customers of the current iPhone generation are satisfied with the Face ID for unlocking the device. As long as nothing changes in this area, Apple does not see itself obliged to bring a fingerprint sensor - on the contrary: the camera technology "TrueDepth" continues to be improved.

Apple iPhone 2019: USB-C instead of Lightning?

With the introduction of the in-house Lightning ports, Apple offered a user-friendly and low repair alternative to the then widespread micro-USB ports. But in times of USB type C the advantages are gone, the new standard is used in more and more devices. In order not to lose the connection, Apple is probably thinking about changes to the ports. According to the Taiwanese tech newspaper DigiTime, sources at Apple's suppliers confirm this plan. According to the sources, it is 2019 and the company is currently working on its plans.
