iRobot Roomba s9+ and Braava Jet M6 can use iRobot's Imprint Link Technology to “talk to each other”

With its Braava Jet m6, iRobot marks a real technological break with its predecessors, and for good reason. It is the first floor washing robot of the manufacturer to integrate a mapping system allowing it to better locate itself in its environment. Indeed, it has the same camera on board (found on Roomba i7, i7+ or s9+). This allows him to better understand the space in which he evolves. Precisely, if the Braava Jet 240 - the previous version of the washing robot - was only intended for small spaces, this new edition promises to cover large areas, without us knowing how much surface this new Braava covers.
This version is very similar to the manufacturer's robot vacuum cleaners in that it features the same technologies with very sophisticated names that make the manufacturer proud. This includes the famous iAdapt navigation system (version 3.0), which is supposed to allow it to navigate intelligently, as well as vSLAM and Smart Mapping ImprintTM technologies that allow the robot to "learn the plan of the house" in order to better target the cleaning to be done. Before starting a washing session, the Braava Jet m6 makes a quick tour of the premises to identify the surfaces that should not be humidified. In fact, when it detects furniture, carpets or any other obstacle, the robot stops the water spray.
All this cluster of technologies could not work together if this robot were not a device connected via Wi-Fi, and that's where iRobot innovates once again. His Braava Jet 240 was connected via Bluetooth when this new version was to be connected to the home's Wi-Fi network. Of course, it is controlled from an app, the same one that hosts the manufacturer's Roomba. The functions will be essentially the same as those we have discovered on the manufacturer's robot vacuum cleaners. Indeed, it will be possible to install virtual tags from the app to prevent the device from accessing certain places.
After each pass, the Braava Jet m6 returns to its charging base. This is far from being a detail since its predecessor operated with a battery to be recharged on an external charger in order to limit contacts between electricity and water. This will greatly facilitate the general use of this robot, which will be able to fill its batteries completely autonomously and resume cleaning until its work is completed.
What remains the same as the previous version is the automatic detection of wipes. Thanks to its detector located underneath the device, the Braava Jet m6 recognizes the installed wipes and automatically adapts one of the two cleaning modes: washing or dry sweeping. According to iRobot, the spray would be powerful enough to spray the dirt embedded in the ground.
The Roomba s9+, presented in addition to this washing robot, and the Braava Jet m6 have been designed to work together. According to iRobot, they are complementary and must communicate together. When the Roomba has finished vacuuming, it automatically notifies the Braava Jet m6, which can start washing. This communication system between Braava and Roomba has a name: Imprint Link technology.
The Braava Jet m6 will be available from the first fortnight of August at a price of €699, 450 € more expensive than its predecessor at its launch.
