JJRC H66 X-MAS EGG: best drone gift for Christmas in 2017

A Unique Design
Designed especially for the Christmas season, this great looking quadcopter is ideal for children and the whole family. It comes in two different colors, red and green. Thanks to its foldable design it is very easy to transport. When folded it has the shape of an egg and becomes very compact (5.5 x 5.5 x 8cm), nearly 70% smaller than unfolded mode (10.5 x 10.5 x 8cm).
Its flexible blades are anti-deformation, anti-crash and anti-collision. Meaning, they won't bend or break easily, great for first time flyers. JJRC H66 is made of ABS plastic, which is a very lightweight and resistant material. It only weighs 45 grams.
Note: To unfold the four arms you just need to press a button on the bottom.
Flight Performance
Flight performance is always an important part of any aircraft, and you will be surprised. H66 has a maximum control distance of 50 meters, slightly above average considering other affordable toy drones in the market. On top of this, powered by a 3.7V 300mAh lithium-ion battery, this quadcopter has a maximum flight time of 6 minutes. It only takes around 45 minutes to fully charge and you can do it via USB (USB charger is included in the package).
If you have never flown a drone before and you are not sure if you will be able to control it, don't worry. JJRC H66 is a smooth and stable quadcopter, specifically aimed at beginners. It is easy to control and maneuver, however, it is not suitable for windy days. It can be flown indoor as well as outdoors.
G-Sensor Wireless Remote Control
A very interesting particularity of JJRC H66 X-MAS Egg is the fact it comes with a gravity sensor remote control. This allows the drone to move the same way the controller is moving. If you move the remote to the left, the drone will move same direction. Besides the joystick, this remote control also gives one key access to functions such as: Automatic Landing, Headless Mode, Light Control, Emergency Stop and Calibration. It's a simple and intuitive 2.4GHz remote control powered by two 1.5V AAA batteries.
Built-in WiFi FPV Camera
The JJRC H66 comes with a standard VGA camera built into the drone, it enables 720p video as well as photographs. A great addition to this drone is the real-time video transmission feature. By downloading and installing a free app on your smartphone or tablet, you can watch real time video displayed on your screen. The video transmission is done via WiFi between the app (on the mobile device) and the drone.
The App
The JJRC application is available on both Android and IOS devices for free. The app allows you to use your smartphone as a remote controller. You can swap between G-sensor remote controller and your own mobile device. Besides this, the app also features Beauty Mode which embellishes the photos you take. The app's user interface enables full access to the drone's potential. You can control it, access one key features, manage settings and view media album.
However, the best thing about the app is the Flight Planning feature, draw a flight path and tap the waypoints and it will perform that same path.
A Fun Set of Features
It wouldn't be a fun drone if it did not include amazing features and this aircraft sure has some tricks up its sleeves. It features Headless Mode, making it easier for beginners to fly it, Altitude Hold, so it can lock on a specific height, LED lights (glows in the dark), 3D Flips and Rolls in the air, and of course the other features we mentioned throughout the JJRC H66 X-MAS Egg review.
Is it Worth Buying?
If you wish to amaze the whole family this Christmas, then absolutely. X-MAS Egg is a very affordable drone experience. It packs fun features, a camera that transmits live video and it is easy to control and transport. All you need is to fly right out of the box. The perfect Christmas gift!
