JMGO M6 Portable DLP Projector review

By  GB Blog Official 2018-03-14 5978 2

Portable projectors have won wide popularity among office workers, family members, and cinephiles. Today, I'll show you a well received portable projector - JMGO M6 Portable DLP Projector.

First, let's enjoy a video about the JMGO M6 projector.

The JMGO M6 is a compact DLP projector equipped with an HDMI port and capable of 854 x 480 resolution. Sporting a micro-USB port, Type-C and Apple lightning interface, the projector is compatible with most smartphone models and runs a pre-installed version of Android 7.0. With all that taken into account, you can probably already see why the JMGO M6 is one of our bestsellers. Add to that the brand confidence based on several previous successful projector models like the JMGO V8 and the JMGO E8.

JMGO M6 comes in a very compact size — hence the word "portable" in the projector's name. Weighing just 432 grams and measuring 19.40cm x 10.20cm x 2.90 cm, the projector is basically the size of an oversized wallet. Technically, you can easily fit into a jacket pocket — but you will definitely "feel" its presence.

The compact size does come with a small flaw through — the buttons on the projector may be a bit too small — and you may find that you will need to fiddle a bit before getting to the right commands. Without the mouse interface, things get even a bit more complicated — so it may be a good idea to hook up an external mouse via the USB port.

On the side of the projector, you will see an HDMI port and a USB port for connecting to the computer, smartphone, PS4 and XBOX, etc.

In addition, there are 3 kinds of ports available on JMGO M6: micro-USB, Type-C and Apple lightning, so the projector can be compatible with most smartphone models.

One of the main things of note in the design is the clever trick with the remote: it clips on to the front of the JMGO M6 for convenience — and also protects it from damage during transit. The IR remote control is powered by 2 x AAA battery, which is not included in the package.

Resolution & display

While the projector's resolution is not particularly impressive, the whole package looks quite good for the price. Let's take a closer look.

You get a native resolution of 854 x 480 and the support of higher resolution content — but keep in mind that the projector will downscale more powerful media.

The 2in DMD lens produces a 1000:1-3000:1 contrast ratio and is capable of 200 ANSI lumens brightness — once again, nothing extraordinary but everything you need for projecting quality image at home or the office.

A great feature is Miracast support: you can easily turn your phone's screen into a larger display to watch your media or have a giant Skype chat with friends.

Battery performance

Battery life is pretty good — the built-in 5400mAh battery offers decent runtime and the projector also promises to serve you long and well 20000 hours of lamp life ensure over 5 years of regular use. What's more, the projector can be also used as a power bank, which will bring great convenience for users.

You get 1GB of RAM onboard, which, though small, performs reasonably well with most applications. Internal storage is 8GB — enough to store basic media files right on the projector. But, then again, you will probably be using it for streaming media through an app or smartphone rather than directly from the device.

Should you buy it?

The JMGO M6 is a very practical little projector — the one that can easily travel with you in your bag and be used for streaming media up to 100in wherever you want. It comes with a nice clever design that makes it very easy to carry, a solid build, a powerful battery and a nice set of features. Available for just $419, the JMGO M6 brings quite a lot to the table in a very compact form.

However, If you are looking for something a bit more high-powered, check out the JMGO V8 Projector with full HD native resolution or the JMGO E8 coming with a fun circular design and the native resolution of 1280 x 800.
