KADRILJ & FYRTUR: IKEA’s Smart Blinds will be come in in August 2019

A well-equipped Smarthome includes remote-controlled blinds, shutters or roller blinds. At the end of 2018 it looked as if the Swedish furniture manufacturer IKEA would fulfil this wish for its customers and add roller blinds with connection to the in-house Smarthome Tradfri system to its range. The product pages for "Fyrtur" and "Kadrilj" were already online, the launch for February 2019 was advertised. Both models were to be controlled either by smartphone or remote control. But before the launch, the articles disappeared from the range without comment.
IKEA Kadrilj and Fyrtur: Launch in August 2019
COMPUTER BILD was informed by IKEA that the development of the two roller blinds had not been completed and that they had therefore been withdrawn from the offer until the official launch. According to IKEA, the implementation into the Tradfri app in particular needs to be fine-tuned. "We will make sure that the required Tradfri app update is available as soon as the blinds are sold," the IKEA spokeswoman told COMPUTER BILD. The company did not have an alternative date. However, the Swedish website of the furniture retailer may be able to supply it: it is advertising the two gadgets for August 2019. An official statement is pending. Whether the date is set in stone and also applies to regions outside Sweden remains unclear. Kadrilj and Fyrtur are still not to be found on the German website.
IKEA Kadrilj and Fyrtur: Functions, Dimensions, Prices
IKEA's smart roller blinds offer different characteristics. While Kadrilj lets light through, Fyrtur ensures absolute darkness. Both versions can be controlled via remote control, app or voice control. The blinds roll up automatically at the push of a button or at a pre-set time, allowing more light to enter the room. The cheapest version of Kadrilj costs 99 euros for the dimensions 60x195 centimetres. All smart blinds from IKEA have this length and cannot be shortened according to product information. The widest version of Kadrilj measures 140 centimetres and costs 139 euros. Frytur is available at prices between 119 and 149 euros, depending on the width, whereby the largest version is only 120 centimetres wide. Practical: the smart roller shutters do not need a nearby socket to function. They have rechargeable batteries that users can recharge thanks to the charger supplied.
IKEA Kadrilj and Fyrtur: Cheap to the Smarthome
With its Tradfri gadgets, IKEA offers an inexpensive introduction to the Smarthome. The furniture retailer's clever devices support operation via Amazon's Alexa, Google's Assistant and Apple's HomeKit. So far, IKEA has mainly offered various smart LED bulbs and matching motion detectors. But that's not all: a Tradfri socket outlet is now available in the Netherlands and Austria, which will probably also be available in Germany at some point in the future.
