Even if the Kirin 985 is eliminated, it will wait until October 2020, when Huawei has used the self-developed Haisi core.


Huawei Haisi employees said that they are studying their own CPUs, and ARM will continue to use them in the future. It is estimated that by this time next year, Huawei's self-developed CPU has begun mass production. However, Kirin 985 still uses ARM technology.

Recently, TSMC said that the latest 7-nanometer EUV (Ultra-UV lithography) process has officially reached mass production requirements. Kirin 985 can be mass-produced at any time. Huawei's rival Qualcomm also plans to mass-produce the next-generation Snapdragon flagship processor for the first time.

7nm EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) is a second-generation 7nm process that allows for more accurate transistor position and 20% increase in transistor density on the chip, making chip performance per unit area more powerful and energy efficient. low. But not a process upgrade, not suitable for the new architecture, 7nm EUV is only optimized for the previous generation of processors. Want to use the new architecture needs to wait until next year's 5 nanometer process. Qualcomm also intends to use TSMC's 7-nm EUV (Ultra-UV lithography), which shows that the Snapdragon 865 is only a performance improvement, and there is not much change compared with the Snapdragon 855.

Like the 980, the Kirin 985 will not have the Baron 5000 built in, and it needs to be plugged in to support 5G. The more optimistic is that the 7nm EUV can optimize performance even if the external Baron 5000 can achieve better results, power consumption and heat generation. significantly reduce.

Huawei Mate30 will launch the Kirin 985 processor, and will also launch the Hongmeng system. This is the debut of Huawei's Hongmeng system. Whether we can compete with Google's Android will let us wait and see!

The engineering prototype of Huawei Mate30 has been handed over to the testers, and only the screen can be seen for the time being. Nothing else is known. If all goes well, it will officially debut in October.
