LG Stylo 5 vs LG Stylo 5 Plus: design
Let's start by taking a look at the LG Stylo 5, which is a rather plain looking phone. The headset measures 6.30 x 3.06 x 0.33 inches and comes with a 6.2 inch screen with sizeable bezels and a 79.8% screen-to-body ratio. No, there is no notch, slider or any other intricate front camera placement on the LG Stylo 5. Instead, the selfie shooter sits comfortably on the upper panel and, on the back, you get the single rear camera setup with the flash placed right below the camera. There is also a fingerprint sensor on the back.
How different will the LG Stylo 5 Plus be? It’s hard to say at this point — but judging from the previously released LG Stylo 4 vs LG Stylo 4 Plus, there should be no significant design differences between the two devices.
LG Stylo 5 vs LG Stylo 5 Plus: specs
The LG Stylo 4 got a lot of hate because of its low RAM approach. The phone came with only 2GB of RAM (3GB for the Plus version), and it was described as a “lag fest” by most reviewers.
Is the LG Stylo 5 different?
The LG Stylo 5 runs on the Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 (14 nm) and comes in one storage version: you get 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This is more than the LG Stylo 4, but still quite limited. We would expect the LG Stylo 5 Plus to feature an upgrade in RAM and internal storage (just like the LG Stylo 4 Plus) but the Plus version of the phone will probably still run on the same Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450.
On the battery side, the LG Stylo 5 use the 3,500 mAh battery, which is quite good for a low power device as your phone will easily get through several days of moderate use on a single charge. The LG Stylo 5 Plus is expected to come with the same battery — but you may be using a bit more of it with an upgrade in RAM and, perhaps, internal storage. The LG Stylo 5 uses a Type-C port for charging but does not support fast charge — the Plus version of the phone will probably not come with fast charge support either.
With the word “stylus” right in the name of the device, naturally, the LG Stylo 5 should give you some extra stylus functionality — and it does. The phone comes with features like Screen-off Memo, which lets you use the stylus to write down notes even without turning on the screen as well as Draw Chat, thanks to which you can add drawings to a text message. The LG Stylo 5 runs on Android 9 Pie — and we expect the LG Stylo 5 to come with the same stylus functionality and, of course, run on the same Android version.
LG Stylo 5 vs LG Stylo 5 Plus: price
The LG Stylo 4 was priced at $229.99 while the upgraded Plus version was available for a bit over $279. Will there be the same difference in price between the LG Stylo 5 vs LG Stylo 5 Plus? This may be the case as the LG Stylo 5 comes with the same price tag of $229.99.
When will LG Stylo 5 Plus be released? And should you wait for it?
The LG Stylo 4 and the LG Stylo 4 Plus were released around the same time — and, with the LG Stylo 5 going on sale on July 15th this year, we can be expecting the release of the LG Stylo 5 Plus anytime now. So, the question is: should you wait for the upgraded LG Stylo 5 Plus or get the LG Stylo 5, which is already out? We’d say it’s best to hold on and see what the improved version of the phone has to offer. As it will most probably come with more RAM and internal storage, the Stylo 5 Plus may actually address exactly what’s lacking on the Stylo 5.
