It is understood that with the new HomeKit support, allowing users to connect to the iOS device's Home app, users can also work with HomePod for a multi-room experience.
AirPlay 2 is able to directly mirror the content on the iPhone, iPad and Mac directly onto the TV and lock the screen. Homekit can use the Siri voice command or home app on the iPhone to control the TV, making the operation more convenient.
It is reported that this update will only be for smart TVs launched in 2019. So far, confirmed models including LG OLED, LG NanoCell SM9X series, LG NanoCell SM8X and LG UHD UM7X series will be updated.
In this regard, many old users said that they hope that LG can extend Airplay 2 or HomeKit to the old model TV to expand the scope of updates.
Currently, LG is the first TV manufacturer to announce support for AirPlay 2. As far as the author is concerned, LG is still very likely to carry AirPlay 2 and HomeKit on the old model smart TV such as 2018. You may wish to wait and see.
