Just two weeks before the big developer conference WWDC 2019 at the beginning of June, Apple has given its Macbook Pro models a little fresh cell cure.
Macbook Pro with Touch Bar: 15-inch models with up to eight cores
After the iMacs received an update in March, it's now the turn of the Macbook Pros. Nothing has changed in terms of design, but the 15-inch and 13.3-inch models now feature the new processors of the eighth and ninth Intel generations under the hood, providing a performance boost.
The Macbook Pro 15 now comes with Intel's ninth-generation processor with up to eight cores and a turbo boost of up to five gigahertz. According to Apple, it's twice as powerful as a quad-core Macbook Pro, and 40 percent more powerful than a six-core Macbook Pro. In the new 13.3-inch models with touch bar, Apple incorporates eighth-generation quad-core processors with turbo boost speeds of up to 4.7 gigahertz.
New Macbook Pro: Apple stands behind butterfly keyboards
Apart from the new processors, combined with Intel Iris, respectively fast Radeon graphics chips, Apple has built in a "brilliant and colorful Retina-Truetone display" with a brightness of 500 Nits and support for the P3 Wide Color Space. SSD (up to four terabytes depending on the model) and RAM are no different from their predecessors: The small model supports up to 16 gigabytes of RAM, the 15 incher can be upgraded up to 32 gigabytes. Apple's T2 security chip is also on board. The built-in battery should last for one day.
When calling Apple, the sensitive issue of keyboard quality also came up. The company spokeswoman explained that many customers were satisfied. Meanwhile, work continues on improving the butterfly mechanism in order to solve problems. New materials are used in the keyboard mechanism to significantly reduce the occurrence of errors. If keyboards show errors, customers should use the keyboard service program - even over the warranty period of one year. For the repair, devices no longer have to be sent in a tedious process, but can be repaired in the Apple Store. This is intended to speed up the repair process.
The new Macbook Pros with Touch-Bar can be ordered from the Apple Store. The 13.3-incher costs from 1,999 Euro, the larger model starts from 2,799 Euro. According to the manufacturer, the devices will also be available in selected Apple stores and authorized dealers from the end of this week.
