Xiaomi's fitness tracker Mi Band 3 sells like cut bread, it was said as recently as December. Within a year, Xiaomi was able to virtually double the sales of smart bracelets together with its wearables manufacturer Huami. No wonder: The devices are among the best and cost only 30 euros.
On Bluetooth registration page Launch Studio, Xiaomi's fitness tracker is now listed in two versions. The entry shows that both support Bluetooth 5. The latest Bluetooth variant offers better connectivity, higher transmission speeds and longer range.
In addition, there will apparently be an NFC model, which could mean the Mi Band 4 allows users to make payments through the wrist. This was also the case with the younger sister model, and the international version of the Mi Band 3 also offered this technology.
Further rumors are said to be integrated into the upcoming version of the activity bracelet GPS and a barometric altimeter, which would enable smartphone-independent positioning. At the same time, it irons out a weakness of previous generations whose pedometers were considered inaccurate.
Instead of plastic as with Mi Band 3, the touchscreen colour display should also be covered with hardened glass.
When will the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 be launched?
The latest report is based on a statement from Huami Chief Financial Officer David Cui. The CFO of Xiaomi's exclusive wearables supplier was asked in the wake of an earnings call if the new Mi Band was coming in March or April. He replied vaguely: "The Mi Band 4 is coming this year. But I'm not sure it will be in March or April.”
Furthermore, the CFO says that the Mi Band 3 is still selling great at the moment. As a result, Huami and Xiaomi have not yet found the right release date for the Mi Band 4.
However, if we look back at the previous releases, which took place in May each, we could expect a sales start before the start of the summer this year. This would also be advisable for sports accessories, after all, this is a seasonal business. However, we will not find out later whether Xiaomi can maintain the aggressive-low price or adjust it upwards; But still this year.
