Microsoft Surface Earbuds: Price, Release, and Specifications

By  Town Kassis 2019-10-07 1396 0

Microsoft Surface Earbuds arrive on the market a little late, but with interesting novelties. In addition to being productive if you use them together with Office, they will also allow you to dictate and translate content in real time, supporting more than 60 different languages. This is what we know so far.

Along with the announcement of the new generation of 2-in-1 devices Surface Pro 7, Surface Pro X and Surface Laptop 3, and the dual-screen device mode that includes Surface Neo and Surface Duo, Microsoft also announced its Surface Earbuds headphones.

They come at a time when the range of hands-free headsets available on the market is very wide, but with a differentiating element that can arouse interest on your part: their integration with Office and translator functions.

Modes of use and operation

The company has shown how it is possible to dictate annotations and create subtitles in applications such as PowerPoint in real time, which is tremendously interesting when combined with the ability to translate over the brand into more than 60 different languages.

Microsoft highlights these new Earbuds headphones that have been developed thinking that the user can wear them comfortably all day in their ears. Inside they have dual microphones and filters to reduce noise and improve sound quality.

For many they are somewhat large in size compared to other light and compact options, but the large flat surface is designed to interact with them in a tactile way, as a complement to the voice.

In fact, you'll be able to listen to music and answer calls without having to touch your mobile phone at all. Surface Earbuds are compatible with all platforms, including Android, as well as with third-party applications such as Spotify.

At this point, you may be wondering what's going on with Microsoft's voice assistant, Cortana. Well, it seems that by maintaining prolonged pressure on the Earbuds headphones we can summon the Cortana assistant to ask him anything.

However, everything seems to indicate from what we have seen so far that they do not have a special function to activate the wizard as happens with Alexa on their speakers or Siri with the latest Airpods 2 headphones.

Price and availability

So, thanks to the integration with Office 365, Microsoft points out that Earbuds allow you to access and consult your Outlook calendar or e-mail messages using your voice. Thanks to the non-screen integration, it is possible to obtain live translations in several languages.

They use a charging case with an extra battery to cope with a hard and intense working day. The marketing price at which they will be available is $249, but not yet confirmed date of availability and sale.
