Surface Pro 7: with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8CX
The king product at Microsoft is the Surface Pro, the famous tablet that can be transformed into a PC with an adjustable keyboard. According to rumours, the Surface Pro 7 should slightly evolve in design and move from the Surface Connect port to a Type-C USB port. As at Apple it would be unfortunate to lose the rather convenient magnetic plug, but fans will be happy to see Microsoft finally adopt this standard, one of the flaws of Pro 6. Unfortunately, this Type-C USB port would be a simple USB 3.0 port, Microsoft would not have adopted Thunderbolt 3.
And for good reason, this technology is rather linked to Intel, even if it will serve as the basis for USB4, and Microsoft would like to move away from the giant microprocessor. A Surface Pro 7 model, known as the Excalibur code, would adopt the Qualcomm Excalibur chip and be 4G LTE compatible. This chip would be based on the ambitious Snapdragon 8CX.
Laptop surface 3: AMD Picasso
Microsoft would also like to see AMD for its future products. The Surface Laptop 3 could indeed integrate the AMD Picasso range, based on the new Ryzen 3000 processor that gives Intel so many difficulties.
The Surface Laptop is historically based on the same components as the Surface Pro, but in a different format, which explains the similar connectivity. The Surface Laptop 3 should also adopt the USB Type-C port, which would again not be Thunderbolt 3 compatible.
Surface Book 3: push the sliders
Surface Book 2 was presented in October 2017, and will therefore have celebrated its second anniversary in October 2019. A new version is therefore expected. The design should not be revolutionized by Microsoft, but a serious upgrade of the internal components is expected to improve the machine's performance.
Surface Book 3 should call upon Intel's new génération 10 engraved at 10 nm, and combine it with Nvidia's powerful GeForce RTX.
Project Centaurus: the new Surface
Microsoft has had a folding device with two displays in its boxes for several years. It was first a smartphone format, but the project has evolved to move closer to ultraportable computers under the code name: Project Centaurus.
Last I heard, the device would run on Windows Lite, a new variant of Windows 10 with a radically different design. Centaurus could integrate compatibility with Android applications and Apple iCloud services.
Windows Lite has not yet been officially unveiled, but Microsoft likes to bring its Surface and Windows teams together, and an announcement on October 2 doesn't seem unrealistic.
On June 4, Microsoft was demonstrating a prototype of a Centaurus to its employees, with equipment already well advanced. It remains to be seen whether the development of Windows Lite will be sufficiently advanced for an announcement. The effective exit of the product would in any case be planned for 2020.
Surface Buds headphones
Microsoft had created a surprise in October 2018 with the presentation of the Surface Headphones, a noise-cancelling Bluetooth headset in competition with Bose and Sony headsets.
According to rumours, the company is now working on Surface Buds headphones, with a design similar to the Apple AirPods, still with an integration of Cortana. However, it is difficult to know if this product will come into being, when Cortana's fate seems more and more compromised.
Surface Go 2: unlikely
There are no rumours about the presentation of a possible Surface Go 2, but the product will be on the market for more than a year on October 2, 2019. Microsoft is more used to unveiling its entry-level products in the middle of the year, outside of its conferences. This is what the company had done for the Surface 3 under Intel Atom, and the first Surface Go of the name.
Microsoft xCloud and Teams for Life
This event should also be an opportunity to talk about software and services. In addition to the possible presentation of Windows Lite, Microsoft should probably talk about xCloud, its cloud gaming service. The firm could also present Teams for Life, a version of its successful Microsoft Teams service for the general public. Enough to compete a little more with Slack.
At the October 2018 conference, Microsoft presented the 1809 update for Windows 10, as well as new features
