Nvidia wants to reserve the names 3080, 4080 and 5080 and I don’t want AMD to use them in Navi Series

Nvidia in the European Union wants to reserve the names, namely 3080, 4080 and 5080. It seems that the company does not want the competition from AMD to use them in combination with their own graphics cards from Navi GPU. As we all know, we're about to see the Radeon RX 3080 and Nvidia wants to avoid confusion among customers.

Radeon RX 3080

Nvidia currently has RTX 2000 series graphics cards, but as we all know, AMD is preparing a response in the form of GPU Navi cards. We know that there will be Radeon RX 3080, but probably also cheaper models with 3070 and 3060 numbers. Nvidia doesn't like this.

Nvidia realizes that the new Radeon with higher and similar numbers can sell better than its RTX 2000 cards. Therefore, the company decided to reserve the numbers 3080, 4080 and even 5080 in the European Union, probably blowing in time for the cold.

However, Nvidia has to wait for the decision, because so far applications have been submitted with the reservation of the aforementioned names. However, the European Union has not yet issued a decision on this matter. It seems, however, that tomorrow we will see the new Radeon RX 3000, because it is doubtful that AMD changed their names at the last moment. Although 100% cannot be ruled out.
